The Senior Compensation & Benefits Manager at Jama Software is a hands-on, flexible individual contributor responsible for the review, implementation, and administration of employee benefits and compensation programs. This role ensures that both benefits and compensation offerings are competitive, compliant with local and international regulations, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. In addition to managing health, wellness, and retirement programs—including U.S. 401(k) administration—this role owns all compensation operations such as salary benchmarking, job leveling, pay structure maintenance, and annual compensation cycle. The Compensation & Benefits Manager partners closely with internal stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, operational excellence, and a positive employee experience across total rewards.

The ideal candidate will be located on the West Coast in Pacific Time Zone.

What You'll Do:

  • Administer, implement, review and maintain comprehensive benefits programs (e.g., health, dental, vision, life insurance, wellness, disability, parental leave) that are competitive, cost-effective, and legally compliant.
  • Manage U.S. retirement and savings plans, including 401(k) administration, compliance testing coordination, employer contributions, and employee communications.
  • Own compensation program operations including salary benchmarking, job leveling, market pricing, compensation survey participation, and annual compensation review processes (e.g., merit, bonus, equity refresh).
  • Maintain and update compensation structures (pay ranges, incentive targets), ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Act as liaison with third-party vendors (brokers, carriers, 401(k) providers) to manage renewals, escalate issues, and ensure high service levels.
  • Coordinate and partner with Payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of benefits deductions and compensation changes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits and compensation, escalating complex matters as appropriate.
  • Manage and plan open enrollment processes, plan documentation updates, benefit plan renewals, and compliance reporting (e.g., 5500 filings, ACA, nondiscrimination testing).
  • Maintain compliance with legal requirements across all benefits and compensation offerings, working with internal counsel as needed.
  • Manage leave of absence programs (e.g., FMLA, state leaves, short- and long-term disability), ensuring accurate tracking, compliance, and communication.
  • Oversee global vacation and time-off policy tracking, ensuring alignment with local labor laws, global statutory laws, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align total rewards programs with company goals and drive employee understanding and engagement through clear communications and resources.
  • Ensure HRIS and related systems accurately reflect benefits and compensation structures; coordinate system changes as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • 6+ years of experience in a compensation and benefits role, ideally with global exposure.
  • Proven experience with U.S. benefits and retirement plan administration.
  • Hands-on experience with global compensation operations, survey participation, and benchmarking.
  • Experience working with HRIS systems and vendor portals.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. benefits and global compensation compliance requirements (e.g., ERISA, ACA, FLSA).
  • Experience managing retirement plans such as 401(k), including working knowledge of compliance testing and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of compensation principles including benchmarking, pay range creation and maintenance, and pay equity analysis.
  • Experience with EDI and setting up vendor file feeds.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling sensitive compensation and benefits data.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing vendors and negotiating benefits renewals.
  • Proficient in HRIS platforms, Excel, and compensation/benefits tools.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional HR certifications (e.g., SHRM, CEBS) are a plus.

Perks and Benefits:

  • Virtual first and culturally diverse work environment spanning 8 countries.
  • Ambitious and fun work with a chance to define distinct, company-shaping tangible contributions.
  • Flexible time off and leave programs crafted to meet the needs for your rejuvenation and extra support to cope with life events with a quarterly $75 wellness reimbursement.
  • Comprehensive and affordable medical, dental and vision plans with pre-tax savings accounts and a generous 401(k) employer match.
  • 6+ weeks of paid parental leave to bond with your new family member.
  • Emphasis on learning and development at all levels with a subscription to LinkedIn Learning.
