CAD Drafter - Internship or Limited-Term Available

Seeking an individual for a limited-term, part-time (seasonal or internship) assignment Summer or Fall of 2025.

The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans has a paid, part-time and onsite CAD Drafting opportunity available for the Summer or Fall of 2025.  This role can be established as a part-time, seasonal ("limited term") project-based position, or as a part-time internship (with or without college credit) for a student in a mechanical drafting or architecture program. 

This role will be working onsite in Brookfield, WI under the direction of our Facilities and Office Services Manager; conducting a specific project to create 2D office floorplans in AutoCAD LT.  We occupy an extremely unique, three-story building established in 1974 with lots of architectural angles and interest. 

Hours for the role are part-time flexible; anywhere from 15-20 hours per week, between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, and onsite at our location in Brookfield, WI. A computer will be provided 

INTERSHIP COMPENSATION:  Internships at the International Foundation pay $15 per hour; depending on the role and any prior experience. Additionally, our internships can be submitted for credit, pending the requirements of your educational institution. 

Essential Duties, Project Outcomes, and/or Learning Objectives:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities (related to this project scope) as management may deem necessary from time to time.

• During the scope of the term, successfully create 2D floorplans for our building in AutoCAD LT
• Accurately capture measurements of the building  
• Accurately represent permanent fixtures, electrical, data, mechanicals and other utilities 
• Accurately represent desk and conference room furniture - size, layout and placement 
• Provide basic training and instruction to teammates on maintaining the floorplans (going forward)

Work Environment:

This role is conducted 100% onsite at our Brookfield, WI location.  The noise level in the work environment is that of a normal office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

 Requirements:

• The successful candidate will be proficient using AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD LT
• Currently enrolled in, or has completed, post-secondary education involving AutoCAD platform
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent mathematical skills
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure and record physical measurements to 1/32" 
• Proficient computer/technical skills, including Outlook and Excel 
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in real time
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

This job requires repetitive bending and lifting, and the ability to safely climb ladders and step ladders in order to secure appropriate measurements.  The AutoCAD drafting work will be based at a desk.
