Job Title: Part-Time Peer Support Specialist
Location: Newark, Delaware – Attack Addiction/Impact Life Resource Center
Schedule: Part-Time – Mondays (9:30 AM – 4:00 PM), Thursdays (12:00 PM – 6:00 PM), Fridays (9:30 AM – 4:00 PM)

Position Summary:

The Part-Time Peer Support Specialist plays a vital role in fostering hope, recovery, and empowerment for individuals navigating substance use and co-occurring challenges. As someone with lived experience, you will use your unique perspective to build authentic relationships, connect participants to resources, and support them in achieving their recovery goals. This position is based out of the Glasgow Resource Center, a collaboration between Attack Addiction and Impact Life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer one-on-one peer support to individuals actively seeking recovery or navigating early recovery
  • Assist participants in identifying personal recovery goals and developing wellness plans
  • Connect individuals to community resources, support groups, housing, treatment, and harm reduction services
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate peer-led groups and activities at the Resource Center
  • Support engagement and outreach efforts to build awareness of available services
  • Maintain accurate documentation of peer support interactions in accordance with program requirements
  • Model recovery values, including respect, empathy, resilience, and personal accountability
  • Uphold ethical boundaries and confidentiality in all interactions
  • Participate in regular supervision and training sessions
  • Represent the Resource Center at community events and partnerships as needed

Work Environment:

  • Resource Center-based with potential for some local travel

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have lived experience with substance use and sustained recovery.
  • CPRS Certification preferred, or willingness to complete when qualifications for the credentials are met

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Substance Use Disorder Approaches & Principles, Harm Reduction Strategies, and best practices.
  • Familiar with Recovery Education and different recovery support programs.
  • Ability to demonstrate skill in understanding and delivering services customized to client needs.
  • Able to recognize different value systems while holding strongly to professional ethics.
  • Ability to practice with honesty, integrity, respect and compassion for clients and their support systems.
  • Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, responsibility, willingness to do more when needed.
  • Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for helping others and promoting wellness in the recovery community.
  • Familiarity with local resources in New Castle County is a plus.

Travel/Special Requirements:

  • Resource Center-based with potential for some local travel Mostly office-based work, some community-based work
