Role Overview

We’re looking for a forward-thinking Head of Technical Operations to lead the vision, execution, and continuous improvement of our internal systems and tools. This person will be a critical builder—responsible for connecting our core platforms, driving adoption, and ensuring every system we use actually helps people be more productive and efficient.

You’ll work cross-functionally across Product, Engineering, Business, Data, Finance and Operations teams to scale operational effectiveness in a high-growth, highly-regulated environment.

What You'll Do

• Set Systems Strategy
• Own the vision and roadmap for our internal systems and tools—prioritizing scalability, interoperability, and usability.
• Balance short-term needs with long-term infrastructure investments as we grow from startup to scale-up.
• Build & Integrate the Stack
• Lead selection, implementation, and integration of systems (e.g., CRM, policy admin systems, quoting tools, billing, support platforms).
• Design workflows and automations that reduce manual effort and eliminate friction across teams.
• Drive Vendor and Tooling Relationships
• Manage key vendor relationships—negotiating contracts, driving accountability, and ensuring ROI from our toolset.
• Stay ahead of the market to identify tools that give our team a competitive edge.
• Champion Adoption & Enablement
• Own change management, onboarding, and training for new systems—making it easy for teams to understand, adopt, and get value from the tools we use.
• Serve as the connective tissue between technical teams and end users—translating business needs into system configurations.
• Build and Lead a Small, Impactful Team
• Hire and mentor a lean team of systems experts as needed (e.g., admin, integrations, ops analyst).
• Cultivate a culture of efficiency, experimentation, and user empathy.

What You Bring

• 6+ years in systems, operations, or business technology roles—ideally in a startup or scale-up environment.
• Proven experience designing and managing a modern SaaS stack, with strong integration chops (Zapier, Workato, APIs, etc.).
• Experience designing and delivering AI-native efficiencies and workflows
• Understanding of the insurance ecosystem (agents, carriers, policy lifecycle) or the curiosity and drive to ramp up fast.
• Excellent project management and vendor negotiation skills.
• Natural collaborator and communicator—you translate complex tech into practical solutions that work for real people.
• Comfortable in ambiguity and energized by solving messy, high-impact problems.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Insurtech tools or platforms (e.g., EZLynx, Vertafore, Applied, Salesforce FSC, or custom quoting/policy systems).
• Light technical ability (e.g., basic scripting, SQL, API workflows).
• Background in process improvement, change management, or business operations.
