The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the leader of Girls Inc. of Columbus and is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Girls Inc. is seeking a passionate and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organization into its next chapter of growth and impact. The CEO will be responsible for advancing the Girls Inc. mission, enhancing organizational sustainability, expanding community engagement, and empowering the team to deliver high-quality programming that uplifts and inspires.
The ideal candidate is a mission-driven leader with a demonstrated commitment to youth development, gender equity, and social justice. This role requires strategic thinking, exceptional communication, and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partners, staff, and the girls we serve.
The CEO manages all aspects of the organization’s programming, fundraising, finance, and administration, ensuring that Girls Inc. fulfills its mission to inspire and empower girls. The CEO serves as the public face of the organization and is responsible for building strong relationships with the community, funders, and stakeholders to support the organization’s long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and lead the strategic vision of Girls Inc., working closely with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team.
Oversee the development and implementation of programs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
Lead the long-term financial planning process, collaborating with the CFO and Board to ensure financial sustainability.
Ensure that all programming, including after-school and summer activities, is designed to empower girls and promote their growth and development.
Board Relations:
Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on organizational performance, finances, and strategic initiatives.
Support the Board in governance, fundraising, and oversight responsibilities, ensuring alignment with Girls Inc.’s mission.
Fund Development:
Lead all fundraising efforts, including major gifts, grants, and individual donations, ensuring the financial health of the organization.
Collaborate with the Development & Marketing Officer to design fundraising strategies that support the growth of afterschool and summer programs.
Community Engagement and Advocacy:
Serve as the primary representative of Girls Inc. in the community, building partnerships with schools, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
Advocate for the needs and rights of girls, ensuring that Girls Inc. remains a leader in youth development.
Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders, corporate partners, and donors to enhance programmatic and financial support.
Organizational Leadership and Management:
Oversee all aspects of human resources, program administration, and financial management, ensuring that Girls Inc. operates efficiently and effectively.
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and safety requirements, maintaining the highest standards of governance.

Program Expansion and Impact:
Expand afterschool and summer programs to serve an increased number of girls annually. Focus on creating measurable impact in girls’ academic, social, and emotional development by enhancing current programs and launching new initiatives.
Financial Sustainability:
Ensure long-term financial health by increasing diverse revenue streams, including grants, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and individual donations. The CEO should target a 10% annual increase in fundraising revenue to support program growth.
Community Engagement:
Increase community partnerships and collaborations by building strong relationships with local schools, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Position Girls Inc. as a key community partner in youth development and advocacy.
Leadership Development:
Foster a high-performance culture among staff by providing professional development, leadership training, and succession planning. The CEO should aim to increase staff retention rates and promote internal talent growth.
Governance Excellence:
Strengthen the relationship with the Board of Directors by providing clear and timely information on organizational performance, challenges, and strategic direction. Collaborate with the Board to ensure sound governance practices and adherence to nonprofit standards.
Requirements
Education, Experience, and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in human services, business, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in leadership and management, with experience in youth development and nonprofit organizations.
Demonstrated success in fundraising, community engagement, and organizational leadership.
Strong knowledge of financial management, governance, and legal compliance for nonprofits.
Conditions of Employment:
Employment at Girls Inc. is contingent upon passing a criminal background check, including a sex offender check, as well as pre-employment drug screening and review of Department of Motor Vehicles records as required by law. Employees in positions requiring a driver's license must remain continuously insurable under Girls Inc.'s insurance policy.
