Manager, Compliance Operations
Job Description
Flex is a growth-stage, NYC headquartered FinTech company that is creating the best rent payment experience. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2025 and paying rent on time is expensive, inflexible, and difficult. We’re here to change that! Flex enables our users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower as many renters as possible with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we are looking for motivated individuals to help us keep our mission growing. Will you be a part of the team?
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Compliance Operations Manager to support the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) in managing and operationalizing the six core pillars of our Compliance program: Compliance Management System (CMS), Testing & Monitoring, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Product Advisory, License Management and TPRM.
This role blends tactical execution with strategic insight and serves as the operational backbone of the Compliance function, ensuring initiatives are executed efficiently, tracked rigorously, and aligned with regulatory and business priorities.
It’s an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in structured, cross-functional environments, has a strong bias for action, and is looking to grow into senior leadership in compliance, risk, or legal operations.
What You Will Do
Operational Program Management
- Drive execution and tracking of key deliverables across the 6 compliance pillars.
- Maintain departmental dashboards, workflows, and documentation to support operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Support the CMS program, including policy management, control mapping, regulatory inventory, and audit readiness.
- Run core team cadences (e.g., weekly meetings, planning cycles, retrospectives).
- Manage budget tracking, vendor coordination, tooling optimization, and hiring operations.
Project & Process Management
- Serve as project manager for cross-functional initiatives involving Product, Legal, Finance, and Risk.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions to improve compliance efficiency.
- Optimize internal processes, documentation standards, and knowledge management systems.
Strategic & Analytical Support
- Conduct research and prepare reports, presentations, or board materials to support leadership planning and audit readiness.
- Monitor progress on key initiatives and report on metrics aligned to department and company goals.
- Analyze trends in compliance testing, audits, or risk incidents to inform proactive solutions.
Team & Leadership Enablement
- Provide decision-support to the CCO through analysis, prep, and coordination across functions.
- Support team structure planning, onboarding, and internal programming (e.g., trainings, meetings, social or CLE events).
Who You Are
- 4+ years of experience in compliance operations, legal operations, consulting, or program management, ideally in fintech, banking, or other regulated industries.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and manage complex operational programs.
- Strong understanding of compliance domains such as BSA/AML, licensing, regulatory testing, or consumer protection.
- Skilled communicator, able to distill complex topics clearly to legal, compliance, and business stakeholders.
- Proficient in workflow and knowledge management tools (e.g., Ironclad, Notion, Airtable, JIRA, Asana).
- Highly organized and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (JD, MBA, MPP) is a plus.
