Job Description

As an associate developer, you will be part of a collaborative, agile team responsible for the design and production of our world-class business systems through domain engineering. The domain engineering team builds reusable services that solve enterprise problems, like freight scheduling and optimized routing. These systems satisfy customer and organizational business requirements and enable Expeditors to set the standard for excellence in global logistics. The associate developer will build an understanding business problems and opportunities, while applying technical skills to the design, development, and testing of applications and systems. The ideal candidate will possess a growth mindset and not only eager to learn but also open to receiving mentorship from experienced team members in a supportive environment.

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 0-2 years of professional software development experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming (preferably Java)
  • Understanding of object-oriented analysis and design principles
  • Familiarity ith SQL and relational database concepts
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices
  • Able to write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Java tools and frameworks: Maven, JUnit, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies: React or Angular, TypeScript, RxJS
  • Exposure to cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, and distributed systems
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools: Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform
  • Comfortable working in UNIX/Linux and Windows environments

Additional Information

Expected base salary:  $80,000 to $120,000
