Expeditors' Customer Experience Portfolio is exclusively focused on delivering value to customers and creating the digital products, like EXP.O NOW, that uplift the technology leadership with our customers and industry. EXP.O NOW is a visionary, industry-leading platform that is the place to go to do business with Expeditors. Our technology enables a seamless digital experience that connects our customers to their goods, providing a powerful tool to support strategic business decisions.
The EXP.O NOW organization is made of of many teams that build and support the customer-facing EXP.O NOW product and associated legacy systems. The full team of teams is operating as a Scaled Agile "Large Solution" that is divided into two sub-groups, or Agile Release Trains (ARTs). The Solution Architect plays a key leadership role setting the technical vision and guardrails for the end-to-end solution, across both ARTs, enabling the success of the EXP.O NOW product.
The Solution Architect is responsible for defining and communicating a shared technical and architectural vision for the EXP.O NOW product and its associated legacy solutions to help ensure the systems under development are fit for their intended purposes. They determine the primary components and subsystems, identify the interfaces and interactions between them, define Nonfunctional Requirements (NFRs), communicate the Solution Context and Solution Intent to team members and stakeholders, and work with business stakeholders to help ensure fitness for purpose. The EXP.O NOW Solution Architect collaborates closely with the EXP.O NOW System Architects, applying intentional architecture and emergent design principles to deliver a first-class, modern experience for Expeditors' customers. They are capable of weighing in on the technical implementation details; however, they gravitate toward leading by influence and empowering the teams to determine the best path forward.
This position will report to the Senior Manager of EXP.O NOW and will work directly with development team members, ART leadership, and product management, as well as stakeholders across the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the EXP.O NOW, Portfolio, and Enterprise architects to contribute to, understand, and support the strategic technical direction of the enterprise
- Create and implement strategies for technology adoption within the Portfolio
- Understand and communicate Strategic Themes and other key business drivers for architecture to technical and nontechnical stakeholders
- Help design solutions which deliver business value while upholding our nonfunctional requirements (NFRs)
- Partner with EXP.O NOW architects to elaborate Capabilities and Features
- Champion adherence to nonfunctional requirements (NFRs), delivering built-in quality, including availability, security, and performance
- Define key technical initiatives that support delivering business value via Enabler Epics
- Support the Customer Experience Portfolio and EXP.O NOW strategies for building and maintaining the solution-level architectural runway
- Work with the teams to identify high priority technical work leading to improved productivity and team satisfaction
- Coach developers, architects, and other technical leaders, identifying training opportunities and fostering common best practices
- Support Systems Development Lifecycle and Software Acquisition Lifecycle processes
- Leads, supports, or participates in ART ceremonies and practices, in alignment with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of experience in technical roles
- Experience working with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, relational databases, and RESTful APIs
- Proven experience as a technology oriented leader
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and execution capabilities
- Experienced problem solver, strong collaborator, and able to provide clarity around complex topics
- Strong understanding of a Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC), DevSecOps, and Lean/Agile concepts
- Assertive personality, interpersonal, action and outcome driven leadership
- Ability to actively inspire, coach, mentor, and motivate
- Ability to promote autonomy, mastery and purpose, through empowerment and creating leaders
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working on customer-facing systems and knowledge of related industry best practices
- Experience working with Angular, micro frontends, Microsoft Data Fabric, Microsoft Power BI, non-relational/NoSQL databases, and GraphQL APIs
- Familiarity with cloud solution development and infrastructure provisioning
- Global logistics/Supply chain business knowledge
- Experiene in a SAFe organization
- Experience in a systems architecture role
- Ability to define, break down and refine work at the Epic and Capability level to deliver thin slices of value
- Experience with work management software such as Azure DevOps

Additional Information
Expected base salary: $165,000 to $240,000
