Job Description

EvenUp is one of the fastest-growing generative AI startups in history, on a mission to level the playing field for personal injury victims, which range from motor vehicle accidents to child abuse cases. Our products empower law firms to secure faster settlements, higher payouts, and better outcomes for those who need it most.

As a Senior Accounting Manager at EvenUp, you’ll play a key role in scaling and strengthening our accounting operations as we continue to grow. You’ll lead the close process, manage a small but mighty team, and ensure accurate financial reporting aligned with US GAAP. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys mentoring others, and is always looking for ways to improve processes.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting function, including direct oversight of a team of two.

  • Lead the month-end close process for all entities, including review and approval of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (e.g., prepaid expenses, customer deposits, vendor accruals, leases, and ASC 606 deferred revenue).

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to US GAAP.

  • Oversee revenue recognition and lead the preparation of technical memos and ASC 606 analyses for new revenue streams.

  • Manage the accounts receivable function, providing hands-on guidance across invoicing, collections, and cash application. Ensure billing accuracy and revenue recognition compliance in alignment with contract terms. Collaborate with Sales, Legal, and Customer Success to resolve billing issues, streamline processes, and support evolving revenue models.

  • Oversee accounts payable, ensuring timely processing of vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and corporate card expenses. Review payment runs, enforce proper coding and approval workflows, maintain vendor relationships, and monitor AP aging to support cash flow management.

  • Assist the Controller with quarterly and annual tax filings, including applicable state and local tax obligations.

  • Maintain and enforce accounting policies and internal controls to ensure compliance with US GAAP and support audit readiness.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy across the accounting function.

  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support the annual financial audit by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor requests.

  • Take ownership of special projects and provide hands-on support as business needs evolve.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role

  • Strong foundation in US GAAP with hands-on experience in revenue recognition (ASC 606)

  • Prior experience in B2B SaaS or high-growth environments

  • Advanced skills in Google Sheets or Excel and QuickBooks

  • Proven track record of identifying and implementing process and system improvements

  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with a willingness to roll up your sleeves

  • Meticulous attention to detail with exceptional analytical and organizational skills

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate across all levels and departments

  • Big Four public accounting background preferred

  • NetSuite experience strongly preferred
