ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Envision Education seeks an Athletic Director to lead students to athletic and academic success in a diverse, compassionate school community at our public college-prep charter high school: Impact Academy of Arts and Technology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Principal, the Athletic Director will collaborate closely with Envision HR and School Site Administration Team to Administer the School Sports Program including hiring and management of coaches, managing athletic league requirements, scheduling and communication of all games and practices, and collaboration with teachers, staff, and parents.

Lead the Mission and Vision of Athletics Program

  • Promote the development of School Athletics Program participants including athletic skills, sportsmanship, character, school core values, and Envision Competencies.
  • Collaborate with the School Principal and/or Vice Principal to propose, update, and follow an annual Athletics Budget
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with the Principal and/or Vice Principal about the Athletics Program, and address challenges and issues as they arise.

Attendance and Supervision

  • Attend and participate in all required League Athletic Director meetings during and/or after regular business hours and on weekends.
  • Collaborate with other Athletic League Leaders, Athletic Directors, and Coaches in supervising Student Athletes during team try-outs, practices, games, and events, and during transportation to and from these events which may occur during and/or after regular business hours and on weekends.
  • Regularly collaborate with School Administration to assess the eligibility of all Student Athletes and communicate proactively with Families, School Administrators, Teachers, and Staff.

Hiring & Onboarding of Coaches

  • Collaborate with Envision HR to facilitate the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of all Athletic Coaches using Envision’s systems, procedures, and policies
  • Collaborate with the HR department before the start of each athletic season to Prepare Coach Contracts using Envision’s Contract.
  • Support HR with compliance of all Coaches to complete:
  • LiveScan fingerprinting clearance
  • Required Vector Trainings including but not limited to Concussion Training and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training
  • Current CPR and current TB Test on file

Management of Coaches 

  • Manage the Training, Supervision, Compliance, and Development of all Athletic Coaches during the course of their Contract and Sports Season.
  • Ensure that all Coaches abide by the rules and regulations of the Athletic League, School Code of Conduct, and Athletes Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate with Coaches to Ensure all Student Athletes have a completed Medical Release for each participating Student Athlete.

Scheduling of All Sports Related Activities

  • Collaborate with School Administration, Athletic League Leaders, Athletic Directors, and Coaches to finalize and communicate the Season Schedule for all Sports including try-outs, team meetings, practices, and games.
  • Communicate regularly with all Athletes, Families, and School Administration with all updates, changes, and additions to the practice and game schedule.

Community Involvement and Fundraising for Sports 

  • Encourage participation and recruit players and volunteer coaches/chaperones to the sports program.
  • Help the sports teams and parents to raise extra funds necessary to support the successful implementation of the program. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commitment to the mission of Envision Education.
  • Commitment to anti-racist and pro-Black leadership and practices in the workplace.
  • High School Diploma Required. Preferred: Associates, Bachelors, or Masters Degree
  • 5+ Years Coaching and/or Athletic Director at the middle, high school, or collegiate level
  • Preferred: Registered or Certified Athletic Administrator
  • Once hired, continuous current California residency.
  • Demonstrated success working with parents and families, especially Black, African American, Latino/a/x, and immigrant families.

LOCATION

This position is onsite at Impact Academy as well as local practice and Bay Area game facilities. 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The annual pay for this role is between $8,000-$12,000 and is dependent upon years of aligned experience and certificates. 

This role is not eligible for Benefits.
