Job Description
Harsco Rail is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Materials Intern to join our Materials Department. This internship offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in materials management, process documentation, and supply chain flow within a manufacturing environment. You'll play a key role in optimizing our materials processes and improving efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Additional Information
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Will include the following, but other duties may be assigned:
Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions specifically for Material Planners and Material Expeditors.
Create and update SOPs and Work Instructions related to Harsco's Factory Track system.
Assist with a kitting layout project to optimize material presentation and flow on the production floor.
Meet regularly with team members to observe and record daily, weekly, and monthly job duties in detail for documentation purposes.
Review and analyze the flow of materials within our manufacturing environment to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with the Materials, Production, and IT teams to ensure documentation accuracy and process efficiency.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Process Documentation: Ability to understand and clearly document operational processes and workflows.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to observe, record details, and analyze material flow within a manufacturing setting.
Supply Chain/Logistics Interest: Foundational understanding or strong interest in materials management, inventory control, and supply chain operations.
Software Proficiency: Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with ERP systems or Factory Track is a plus, but not required.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively gather information, document processes, and interact with various team members.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous and thorough in documenting procedures and instructions.
Proactive & Organized: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and take initiative.
