What is The Role

We are hiring a proactive and meticulous Commercial Compliance Program Manager to join our Commercial Legal team! This critical role will be instrumental in managing and enhancing our newly established Commercial Legal Compliance Program. With a primary focus on supporting our United States Public Sector (USPS) and global public sector engagements, this role will also support Elastic’s global commercial contract compliance efforts.

Reporting to the head of the USPS and America’s Commercial Legal team, this position is ideal for a self-sufficient, resourceful professional who thrives in a dynamic environment. You will be committed to maintaining and improving Elastic’s robust compliance frameworks for our public sector and commercial customers, partnering with other legal and compliance professionals across the company and implementing programmatic solutions. In this role, you will be in a pivotal position to build trust with internal teams and customers, and to accelerate our go-to-market motion by eliminating rework. Eastern US Time Zone is preferred.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Legal Compliance Program, primarily focused on the US Public Sector. This includes overseeing tools for capturing and tracking contractual obligations, maintaining compliance dashboards, ensuring data accuracy, and serving as the primary point of contact for program inquiries.
  • Support and drive strategic commercial compliance initiatives, in partnership with other key SMEs (i.e., data privacy and geographical experts). You'll prepare materials for the Global PubSec Steering Committee, track action items, and facilitate actions and communication to ensure alignment.
  • Interpret, analyze and assess global contractual obligations against Elastic's products, processes, and go-to-market strategy, including specific focus on USPS, Elastic’s FOCI-mitigated entity, and global public sector.
  • Support deal negotiations by enabling compliance-related insights and guidance. This is particularly important for USPS and other public sector engagements, ensuring we meet regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Develop and deliver engaging and effective commercial compliance training programs for internal teams. This ensures relevant groups understand their responsibilities, contractual obligations, and how to use compliance tools, resources, playbooks, and procedures.
  • Foster strong relationships with key partners across Legal & Government Affairs (including regional commercial leads, legal operations and data privacy), Sales, Deal Desk, InfoSec, Finance, and Sales Operations. You'll demonstrate initiative and ownership to find ways for process improvements, simplify workflows, enhance commercial compliance tools, and champion a culture of compliance and accountability to help drive business enablement.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience in contract management, contract administration, or a similar commercial compliance-focused role. This includes significant experience with U.S. public sector contracting requirements and compliance, preferably within an in-house legal department of a technology company. Experience with public sector compliance outside the U.S. is a strong plus, but not required.
  • Demonstrable success in developing, implementing, and managing compliance programs or complex projects involving various internal and external groups.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail. You can work cross functionally to interpret complex contract language or legislative content and translate it into actionable compliance tasks.
  • A proactive, self-starting nature. You can work independently, prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment where time matters, and adapt to shifting priorities with ethical judgment, flexibility, and humor.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills. You can convey complex compliance concepts clearly, build trust through empathy and consistency, and foster transparency and accountability with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in contract management systems, Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), GSuite, and ideally, dashboarding tools.
  • A strong commitment to high standards, continuous learning, and contributing innovative ideas. You're dedicated to enhancing team and company effectiveness.
