Compensation: $70,000-$82,000 (We believe in compensating staff members fairly in relation to each other. Founded in 1958 as a children’s reading group, East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP) has grown into a dynamic multi-site after-school program for students in traditional public schools and a network of public charter schools dedicated to dramatically increasing the college graduation rate in East Harlem. About The Opportunity
We are seeking a strategic, driven, and equity-focused Talent Manager to lead full-cycle recruitment, marketing, and branding efforts across several key programs. This individual will be responsible for designing and executing high-quality hiring processes for our Out-of-School Time (OST) and Teacher Residency programs, building brand awareness, managing the referral program, and overseeing recruitment-related budgeting and finance.

We are seeking candidates who are incredibly organized, strategic thinkers, flexible, customer service oriented and excited to build and maintain a large number of internal and external relationships. As a member of the Talent Team, you will work alongside a collaborative team that prioritizes EHTP’s anti-racist work in our recruitment and hiring process. You will impact our scholars by ensuring that we select qualified educators who will support them in reaching their full academic potential and realizing their best selves.
What You’ll Accomplish
Recruitment Strategy & Execution
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for part-time and full-time Out-of-School Time (OST) roles, from sourcing and screening to selection and onboarding.
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for the Teacher Residency & Fellowship program, partnering closely with hiring managers and program leaders.
- Analyze hiring data and trends to refine and improve recruitment strategies over time
- Ensure inclusive, equitable, and candidate-centered hiring processes.
- Manager the referral program, including tracking bonus payouts and communicating with referrals and employees.
- Post job openings across multiple platforms, ensuring accurate, compelling, and timely listings that align with program needs and attract diverse, high-quality candidates.
- Conduct all reference checks, ensuring consistency, thoroughness, and alignment with our organizational values and hiring criteria.
- Ensure candidates matriculate through the application process efficiently by cultivating relationships with prospective talent, creating a positive candidate experience with timely communication, and effectively selling EHTP mission and values through our employee value proposition
- Execute a hiring process to create a warm, welcoming candidate experience regardless of outcome
- Track and report on referral metrics and identify opportunities to optimize the program's impact.
Marketing & Branding
- Drive awareness of our talent brand by developing targeted marketing strategies for prospective OST and Residency candidates.
- Create compelling content and collateral to promote open roles across digital platforms, social media, events, and more.
- Support strategic partnerships with organizations, colleges/universities, and pipelines aligned with our mission.
- Attend career fairs and events on behalf of EHTP, utilizing EHTP’s employee value proposition and racial equity statement to connect with prospects and cultivate candidates.
- In partnership with the recruitment team, marketing and communications, execute external events, e.g. open houses, happy hours, webinars, and other targeted events, to increase brand awareness of EHTP, leading to stronger pipelines of potential candidates
Budgeting & Finance
- Oversee the recruitment budget, including advertising, events, tools, and the referral program
- Track expenses and work closely with finance partners to ensure accurate forecasting and alignment with department goals
Other
- As a mission-driven organization, we may occasionally ask team members to support related projects or initiatives that align with the scope of their role and contribute to our collective impact.
- Manage data tracking in Greenhouse and adhere to recruitment team norms for collecting, housing, and maintaining data in application tracking system
A Breakdown of the Role
Full-Cycle Recruitment (60%) - This includes sourcing, screening, coordinating and facilitating interviews, managing candidate communications, and ensuring an equitable and inclusive hiring process from start to finish. Lead full-cycle recruitment for a variety of roles, with a primary focus on:
- Part-time and Full-time Out-of-School Time (OST) positions
- Teacher Residency candidates
Marketing & Brand Awareness (15%) - Develop and implement strategies to increase visibility of our open roles and elevate our employer brand. This includes creating engaging content, managing job boards and social media postings, and cultivating partnerships with schools, organizations, and talent pipelines.
Referral Program Management (10%) - Own and enhance the organization’s referral program. Monitor performance, track referral data, and implement strategies to increase engagement and effectiveness.
Budgeting & Finance (10%) - Manage the recruitment budget, including advertising, recruitment tools, and referral incentives. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate tracking and alignment with broader organizational goals.
Team Collaboration & Special Projects (5%) - Support cross-functional projects within the Talent & HR team, contribute to team-wide initiatives, and step in where needed to ensure team success.
What Qualifies You
- You have 3+ years of experience either teaching, recruiting teachers, or working in a school setting
- You have a Bachelor’s degree or higher
- You are highly organized, detail oriented, and possess excellent project management skills
- You approach your work through the lens of equity, especially as it pertains to the hiring and selection process
- You constantly and consistently check your bias to ensure that your decisions and interactions are grounded in equity, fairness, and an awareness of how your perspective impacts others
- You are a self-starter who can move complex projects forward without heavy oversight
- You have a strong customer service-based approach to recruiting and relationship-building
- You have a race and equity lens that guides your work and efforts to help others build their capacity to consider the impact of their identities and actions in their work
- You have a positive, solutions-oriented mindset and an empathy-driven approach to working with others
- You value and actively seek feedback and approach your work with humility
- You have an aptitude for collaborating and problem-solving during complex tasks
- You can work comfortably with ambiguity, are flexible, adaptable, and willing to pivot on short notice to meet the team’s needs
- You hold yourself to high professional and ethical standards

- You have experience with Greenhouse, LinkedIn Recruiter, and Google Suite (preferred but not a requirement)
- You are bilingual (preferred but not a requirement)
