Compensation: $81500 - $139500 / Annually

We are seeking an experienced Associate Editorial Director, Instruction to oversee a large team of editors working on our K–8 Literacy Product Line. This role is crucial to ensuring the editorial team meets the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and pedagogical effectiveness. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who excels at managing complex projects, leading teams, and proactively identifying and addressing potential roadblocks.
The impact you'll have:
- Editorial Oversight: Review and ensure the accuracy, clarity, and pedagogical soundness of editorial work across all components of our literacy portfolio. Provide constructive feedback and implement quality control measures.
- Editorial Workflow Management: Design and implement content development workflows that ensure products meet high quality standards, incorporate efficiency measures, and reflect tight coordination with Design, Production, and other content teams. Partner with Project Management teams to develop editorial schedules that reflect optimal workflows and meet business needs and objectives.
- Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, mentor, and support a large team of editors. Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented environment and provide professional development opportunities.
- Problem-Solving & Roadblock Removal: Anticipate and mitigate challenges that could impact workflow, content quality, or deadlines. Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues efficiently.
- Stakeholder Communication & Management: Keep leadership informed of project status, potential risks, and strategic opportunities. Present clear, data-driven updates and advocate for necessary resources or adjustments.
- Process Optimization: Identify areas for improvement in editorial workflows and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, communication, and content consistency.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product development, design, and production teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery of curriculum components.
Who we're looking for:
- 7+ years of experience in educational publishing, editorial management, or curriculum development, preferably in K–8 ELA.
- Proven track record of leading large editorial teams and managing high-volume projects under tight deadlines.
- Deep understanding of K–8 literacy instruction, Common Core standards, and instructional best practices.
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and pivot as needed.
- Strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop proactive solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience in managing up and influencing senior leadership.
- Proficiency with editorial tools, workflow management systems, and digital content development.
- Experience working cross-functionally with product, design, and production teams in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
Benefits and Pay Range:
Pay Range – This role’s range is $81,500 - $139,500. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.
