Job Description
The Director of Sales is responsible for leading and executing the overall sales strategy for our equipment distribution business. This role oversees regional and national sales teams, builds and manages strategic customer relationships, develops new business opportunities, and ensures sales targets are met or exceeded. The ideal candidate has deep industry experience in equipment distribution (construction, industrial, agricultural, etc.), strong leadership skills, and a proven record of scaling sales performance.
\n- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with company goals and market dynamics.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the sales team (regional managers, account executives, inside sales, etc.).
- Set clear objectives and KPIs for the sales organization and monitor performance against targets.
- Identify new market opportunities and customer segments for growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and OEMs.
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, and service teams to align sales efforts with overall business operations.
- Prepare and present sales forecasts, budgets, and performance reports to senior leadership.
- Negotiate high-value deals and contracts in coordination with legal and finance departments.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform strategy.
- Participate in trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 8–12 years of experience in sales, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the equipment distribution industry.
- Demonstrated success in managing high-performing sales teams and achieving aggressive growth targets.
- Strong understanding of the equipment distribution channel, including inventory, logistics, and customer service.
- An effective presenter able to address both current account and prospect needs, and offer solutions to enhance their business
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a record of successfully building and sustaining client relationships.
- Proficient in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel as needed (30–50%).
- Experience in planning and budgeting, and able to prepare detailed forecasts and strategic plans.
- Knowledge of specific equipment types (e.g., laser systems, packaging, security printing, and more).
- Experience working with manufacturers/OEMs and managing dealer or distributor networks.
- Familiarity with leasing, financing, and after-market service models.
$175,000 - $200,000 a year
Potential annual bonus on total sales goals and company profitability. This role is for succession planning of leadership and potential ownership.
