SUMMARY
Exercising independent judgment, the Director of Finance, as a key member of the Leadership Team, will be responsible for the overall function of finance and compliance, reporting to various private and public funding sources (City, State, and Federal), management of financial internal controls.
The Director should encompass a strong background in government and private grants management, non-profit accounting, and financial reporting, as well as experience working effectively with a diverse team, collaborating with teams across the organization, and producing various reports for Executive Teams, Board of Directors, investors, and other funding sources. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and working in collaboration with the Controller, the Director of Finance will implement the infrastructure/systems needed to support the ongoing growth of CRCD and its subsidiary organizations. The Director will actively contribute to the development and management of effective and streamlined administrative/financial systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Finance will be involved in strategic planning, evaluation, and professional development initiatives. Specifically, the Director of Finance will be responsible for:
- Implementing CRCD’s financial accounting procedures and internal controls
- Overseeing accounting operations and month-end closing activities
- Preparing periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual, ad hoc)
- Managing cash flow and related forecasts
- Collaborating with CFO and Controller in the preparation of organization-wide budgets and forecasts, financial analysis reports, and reports to lenders & stakeholders.
- Tracking and consolidating CRCD’s investments in subsidiary organizations
- Assisting in the coordination of financial audits and financial reviews
- Five years of senior management experience, managing finance and accounting teams of high-growth $25 million to $50 million organizations (preference given to nonprofit experience)
- Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector.
- Experience should include reporting, compliance, budget, and staff supervision.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.
- Proven effectiveness leading professionals in finance and accounting.
- Technologically savvy, with an ability to point to examples of having worked with IT staff to develop and implement new processes and systems that increased efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible and a self-starter; able to multi-task while also being highly detail oriented.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to Coalition for Responsible Community Development’s mission.
Requirements
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of MS Office

- Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (advanced degree, CPA/MBA, preferred)
SALARY
$100,000-$160,000 annually
