Description

The Affordable Housing Compliance Specialist must understand the issues of poverty and homelessness. The Compliance Specialist is responsible for reviewing Affordable Housing applications and recertifications and ensuring they are eligible and compliant with applicable and current regulatory requirements. 


General Functions & Responsibilities: 

  • Review of the Affordable Housing resident and applicant files for eligibility and compliance with all HUD, Federal, and Local Laws and practices.
  • Communicate with On-site staff to ensure that all proper documentation is obtained to determine program eligibility.
  • Continually adhere to all company policies and procedures as set forth in the personnel manual. Confidentiality is essential.
  • Monitoring changes in HUD/Housing regulations and requirements and implementing modifications as indicated. 
  • Provide support to the on-site team.
  • Develop strong planning skills when preparing monthly, weekly, and daily reports.
  • Work with the Compliance Manager to ensure the Housing department is in compliance with all housing regulations. 
  • Completes special projects, as needed.
  • Periodically travel to properties.
  • Attend conferences and training sessions. 
  • Requires an appreciation and respect for the  Catholic Church and its teachings. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.


Requirements

  •  Associate Degree with equivalent experience in administration or another human service field with relevant coursework.   Preferably should have a minimum of 2 years of compliance department and related affordable housing compliance experience.  
  • Requires to travel periodically to properties.
  • Knowledge of multi-housing management, affordable housing programs and RealPage Onesite software experience is preferred. 
  • Preferred Certificates: Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) designation is a plus. If not already certified, it is required to be willing to obtain within 6 months of employment. 
  • Excellent communication in English both verbally and written. Fluency in Spanish is helpful but not required.
