Position Overview:
Cascadia Consulting Group is looking for an Associate to join our Communications and Engagement (C+E) line of business. In this role, you will engage in inclusive and strategic outreach to provide support for residents and multifamily property managers to implement green actions and advance sustainability. You must be available for local outreach and client meetings in the greater Puget Sound area but may otherwise work remotely. This position is expected to be in the field conducting outreach on average two days per week.  Occasional travel, including fieldwork, meetings, overnight stays, or other activities outside standard work hours may be required.

The ideal candidate will have a background in recycling, organics, and waste reduction systems and programs, as well as experience managing and building cross-functional teams. Examples of everyday tasks may include:
•    Provide onsite outreach and engagement to property managers, multifamily tenants, and single-family residents through technical assistance, door to door outreach, focus groups, and tabling, among other engagement strategies.
•    Perform project management, including scoping, budgeting, planning, client communication, directing staff and/or subcontractors, reporting, and invoicing.
•    Lead projects with a range of communications, engagement, behavior change, and/or marketing focus for the residential sector. Project topics include recycling, composting, wastewater, pollution prevention, transportation, and potentially other environmental topics.
•    Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with Cascadia’s reputation and standards for producing high-quality work products and outcomes.
•    Deliver technical services, such as study designs, formal reports, equitable service delivery, and in-field team leadership for inclusive engagement with residents and property managers on environmental topics through phone calls, door-to-door outreach, surveys, focus groups, web and social media, presentations, and events. 
•    Actively reflect and improve upon efforts to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion concepts into client work 
•    Contribute to a working environment conducive to team effectiveness, quality, creativity, and positive morale across Cascadia’s offices
•    Effectively write and verbally communicate using a diversity of styles and perspectives. Work with the creative team to synthesize and translate complex information into clear, informative, and compelling materials (e.g., summaries, fact sheets, presentations, online dashboards, reports) 
•    Track and manage multiple deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks.
•    Using tools like Excel, Google G Suite, and Salesforce to track outreach and engagement outcomes. 

Qualifications:  
•    Experience in providing culturally competent engagement and communication with residents and multifamily property managers.
•    The ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines, with attention to detail in a dynamic work environment. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. 
•    Ability to work with clients, partners, and colleagues in an innovative and culturally responsive way while exhibiting emotional intelligence.
•    Ability to thoughtfully navigate client and partner relationships; proactively identify and resolve budget, client and/or partner issues; and the ability to advocate for community needs to clients to ensure equitable and effective outcomes.
•    Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills in English, both in person and over the phone and with the ability to adapt to a diversity of styles and perspectives.
•    Commitment to team building and mentorship.
•    Experience and comfortability with in-person outreach and engagement.
•    Project management experience mentoring teams of staff that work in partnership with diverse community members, leaders, and other audiences. 
•    Ability to communicate technical information—such as environmental impacts and benefits, city ordinances, and local policies—to the public in a clear and concise manner. 
•    Intermediate to advanced experience—and a willingness to expand skills—in producing documents with Microsoft Office 365 programs such as SharePoint, Word, Excel, Smartsheet, Salesforce, and PowerPoint or with Adobe products or the Google G Suite. 
•    Commitment to working both in teams and independently to advance common goals, think creatively, use sound judgement to resolve issues, and create high-quality, effective work products. 
•    It is also helpful, though not required, to have spoken and/or written fluency in both English and another language, such as Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Somali, Russian, Amharic, Tigrinya, Punjabi, or Arabic. 
•    Valid driver’s license and comfortable driving throughout the Greater Puget Sound Area (personal vehicle not required). 
•    Ability to work outdoors, including in inclement weather.

Total Compensation:
The hourly range for this position is $34.00 - $48.00 per hour. The compensation placement for this position will fall between the minimum and midpoint of the listed pay range, based on the candidate's experience, demonstrated skills and abilities during the selection process, and potential for growth within the role.

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt, position, based in our Seattle office. Cascadia offers a flexible workplace with options to work from both home and the office. This position is expected to be in the office on an average of two days per week and requires availability for local client meetings within the Greater Puget Sound area. Outside of these commitments, remote work is permitted. Cascadia has a physical office in downtown Seattle and a culture that encourages in-person engagement with colleagues while supporting remote flexibility.
