Position Overview
As the Senior Manager, Logistics, you will play a critical leadership role in overseeing national logistics operations that support both fixed research site deployments and mobile medical events across the U.S. for community and clinical initiatives. You will work cross-functionally with Delivery Teams to manage site setup, trial activation, ongoing maintenance, and site decommissioning. Your scope includes leading the Safety, Logistics, and Fleet teams, designing site and event layouts, managing control tower operations, and serving as the final authority for event readiness and deployment.
This role is highly dynamic and fast-paced, often involving novel and unexpected challenges that require strong problem-solving capabilities, composure under pressure, and operational agility. Success in this position requires comfort navigating ambiguity, as well as confidence and autonomy in making high-stakes decisions that directly impact service quality, timeline performance, and patient access.
\n- Strategy and Leadership:
- Lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment across studies and mobile events while maintaining compliance with company performance goals, sponsor expectations, and SOPs.
- Drive operational excellence by identifying, establishing, and managing performance metrics and accountability frameworks.
- Direct, develop, and mentor a national logistics team, including Logistics Managers, Fleet Manager, Safety Team, Control Tower Agents, and MSV Specialists.
- Spearhead deployment strategies, communication frameworks, and workflow improvements across operational streams.
- Oversee budget planning and financial monitoring, identify cost-saving opportunities, and collaborate on strategies that ensure financial sustainability and resource optimization.
- Process Management:
- Identify and eliminate barriers through strategic projects and initiatives, implementing mechanisms to mitigate deviation from the set standard.
- Lead cross-functional teams in identifying, analyzing, and implementing process improvements.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) sessions to address and prevent recurring delivery, fleet and logistics issues.
- Lead and optimize team operations to meet deadlines, deliverables, and resource allocations.
- Facilitate effective team communication, resolve issues quickly, and foster high team morale and cohesion.
- Create and execute retention strategies, alongside individualized development plans to support employee growth.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable, data-informed process improvements.
- Manage the full project lifecycle—from scope and stakeholder alignment to risk mitigation and delivery.
- Implement logistics technology and automation tools to streamline inventory management, tracking, and real-time decision-making across sites and mobile deployments.
- Establish and enforce quality control protocols to ensure service consistency, minimize risk, and uphold regulatory and operational standards.

- Exercise decisive judgment under pressure to resolve field-level and operational logistics issues.

- Continuous Improvement:
- Design and lead operational excellence initiatives, including projects tailored to decentralized trial models.
- Training and Development:
- Develop onboarding frameworks and role-specific learning programs in collaboration with People and Training teams.
- Lead internal training, strategic team sessions, and cross-departmental events to drive alignment and capability building.
- Maintain up-to-date SOPs and training documentation reflecting the latest tools, processes, and initiatives.
- Oversee the comprehensive onboarding and role-specific training of new Logistics Managers, Fleet Managers, and Logistics Leads, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, operational best practices, and long-term talent development strategies.
- Create and execute retention strategies, alongside individualized development plans to support employee growth.
- Site Coordination and Compliance:
- Partner with all departments within Global Delivery to lead the strategic planning and seamless execution of site setup, trial activation, operational maintenance, and decommissioning. Ensure alignment across functions to uphold regulatory standards, optimize timelines, and deliver high-impact outcomes that directly support enterprise goals and study success.
- Collaborate with Patient Access and Procurement to facilitatetimely and efficient research site establishment.
- Act as liaison between on-site teams and corporate operations, ensuring real-time communication and resolution.
- Continuously align procedures and logistical strategies with evolving operational needs and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with company-wide objectives, compliance and standard operating procedures.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Partner with Training and People teams to develop and implement strategic learning initiatives, ensuring teams are equipped with the skills and knowledge to scale operations effectively.
- Design and lead high-impact trainings, operational summits, and cross-functional conferences to align logistics practices with organizational goals and innovations.
- Champion adherence to company-wide standards, driving operational excellence and ensuring alignment with regulatory, clinical, and performance objectives.
- Lead transition strategies from initial site setup to fully operational status, ensuring seamless handoff and operational continuity across clinical teams.
- Act as a key resource for navigating complex and high-pressure challenges, providing timely guidance and innovative solutions to support frontline teams.

- This role requires 100% of the work to be performed in a remote office environment and requires the ability to use keyboards and other computer equipment.

- Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practices.
- Proven capability to develop and implement formalized retention programs, succession planning, and team member development initiatives.
- Expertise in ensuring organizational compliance with SOPs, sponsor requirements, and cross-functional KPIs.
- Adept at leading through ambiguity and adjusting operational strategies to meet evolving business, site, or project needs, while upholding exceptional service standards.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
- Candidates with 5+ years of directly relevant experience will be considered if they do not possess a formal degree.
- 5+ years of experience managing direct reports, including recruiting, hiring, training, and providing feedback to build a high-performance team.
- 3+ years of experience in operations (preferably clinical), healthcare technology, or relevant pharmaceutical/research roles.
- 3+ years of logistics or event planning experience in fast-paced, multi-site or client-facing environments preferred.
- 2+year of hands-on project management experience, including planning, coordination, tools (e.g., Monday.com, Asana, Trello, or similar) and execution of cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience in AI integration, including implementing or supporting AI-driven tools, workflows, or platforms.
- Strong Expertise of Microsoft Suite required.
- Valid state driver license required with no major driving violations.
