Founding Backend Software Engineer

As a founding backend engineer, you'll design and develop the robust, scalable systems powering our platform. You'll own critical infrastructure decisions and build APIs and services optimized for reliability, performance, and flexibility.

What You’ll Do:

- Architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Node.js, TypeScript, and modern database technologies

- Design and implement high-performance RESTful APIs and microservices

- Collaborate closely with frontend engineers and product teams to ensure seamless integration and user experience

- Manage cloud-based infrastructure on platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure

- Implement best practices for backend security, scalability, monitoring, and maintenance

What We’re Looking For:

- 3+ years experience developing scalable backend systems

- Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and familiarity with frameworks like Express or Fastify

- Experience designing APIs and database schemas (SQL, NoSQL)

- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing, and deployment pipelines

- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Bonus Points:

- Prior experience in early-stage startups or founding teams

- Experience implementing real-time services or data streaming infrastructure

- Familiarity with DevOps tools, CI/CD practices, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi)

- Contributions to open-source projects or a strong personal portfolio
