Summary

The Client Team (comprising Client Services and Client Development functions) undertakes a wide range of responsibilities in driving billupsʼ business forward, developing and nurturing client and partner relationships. As part of our Client Services function, the Business Director role collaborates closely with reports, peers, and Leadership (the MD and CEO) in:

Media Planning & Buying:

  • Senior responsibility for the day-to-day management of the whole Client Services function to ensure they are effectively servicing clients and are proactively contributing to growing client and agency business. Ensuring a thorough understanding of all clients’ strategies and objectives and the KPIs billups must deliver for them.

  • Drive Client Development function support through the Client Services functions creation of, or access to, materials or content.

  • Involvement and leadership of new business and large client opportunities requiring strategic storytelling and vision. and ensuring that media plans are being supported by strategy and that tactical rationale is clearly communicated to clients.

  • Provide training and development of your team to ensure they're learning and developing their own client communication skills.

  • Oversee strategic media plan development effectively utilizing client budgets to achieve optimal results, Ensure team training and guidance on use of all planning and implementation tools and systems. Ensure compliance with agency standards and client expectations.

  • Ensure the team effectively delivers recommendations that meet the client's objectives and strategies. Direct involvement on larger plans and opportunities to ensure best-in-class tactical work is being delivered.

  • Tracking and utilization of MOCA opportunities and engagement with the Investment Team on relevant opportunities.

Project Management:

  • Overall responsibility for shared file drive management, ensuring documents and content are saved in the relevant folders. Ensuring client and media vendor documents and folders are regularly updated within our directory.

  • Responsible for ensuring the timely activation of media campaigns by downline employees

  • Direct campaign reporting for all clients - overseeing access to ʻProof of Posting (POP)ʼ and Campaign Attribution, ensuring this is created to deliver against objective and received by clients and/or their agencies in a timely fashion.

  • Drive consistency in our work through self and team adoption of the appropriate templates and guidelines; and relentlessly pursuing operational efficiencies. Providing proposals for expanded/evolved team structuring as required. Delivering operational excellence as an individual and with the whole Client Team.

  • Juggle multiple project deadlines without compromising quality.

  • Control of the whole Client Services functionʼs calendar regarding the arrangement of team meetings or presentations.

  • Strong Adoption and understanding of required tools and systems.

Relationships:

  • Develop strong long-term relationships with the whole Client Teamʼs day-to-day and senior agency, client and media vendor contacts, building trust and collaboration. Driving the same across the wider team, putting relationship mapping in place.

  • Attend relevant client/partner/industry events. Travel, as required. Panel potential and article development.

  • Direct supplier relationships, regarding the development and execution of industry-leading OOH planning. Seek out trade opportunities and integrate with Investment team.

Thought Leadership:

  • Develop and grow your industry knowledge plus that of the whole Client Team through meeting and event attendance, accessing company training, conducting site visits, and engaging with Billupsʼ communication platforms.

  • Ensure knowledge and best practices are shared across the wider team and business and adhere to the associated budgets. Manage and host internal training sessions.

  • Advocate and implement Billupsʼ mission/vision/purpose, strategies, platform, and services across your clients. Respond to new business RFIs that align with mission/value/purpose throughout.

  • Attend and lead wider company initiatives, lead person on new business pitches, social events, town halls, etc., and ensure the same across the Client Services function.

  • Stay up to date on the media landscape and demonstrate a knowledgeable opinion on client and supplier news and activity. Ability to speak to news and provide opinions in client meetings and presentations. Ensuring the team is doing the same.

  • Partner with senior leaders at Billups to push the boundaries of current and future functional goals and strategies. Set the tone and expectations for exemplary client service and proactive business development.

Training & Development:

  • Ensure the team has a diverse group of super-users and are given opportunities to lead, train and communicate to the greater team or company for their personal development.

  • Ensure there is a diverse group of super-users and trainers across the team allowing for everyone to flex their skill sets and learn how to train and participate in the development and rollout of company tools.

  • Identify any gaps in team and employee training and make action plans to bring the team up to speed on adaption and utilization (DOmedia, Platform/mapping, Planning tools & systems, posting instructions, POP).

Business Development:

  • Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities. Establishing target plans against key accounts and categories. Identifying, securing and executing meetings with prospects and leads, collaborating closely across relevant departments and Client Development function in doing so.

  • Lead and identify ways of delivering organic and diversified revenue growth, developing and converting new business opportunities, and establishing target plans against key accounts and categories. Build into pipeline ways to grow business and relationships.

  • Responsible for compiling accurate, updated business planning and forecasting across the whole Client Services function. Working with the Managing Director, Head of Media, and Regional CEO to identify potential challenges and develop solutions.

  • Responsible for ensuring annual budget delivery across the whole Client Services function, linking closely to the Regional CEO, Managing Director, and Finance Team to maintain tracking and oversight.

  • Guide and Lead the team to ensure client interactions are actionable for forecasting and growth. Problem solve and SWOT on account approaches to maintain account relationships or develop for growth.

  • Promote OOH and Billupsʼ offering to clients and agencies, being a senior point of servicing contact across all clients, with responsibility for ensuring requests and expectations are managed proactively and that our strategic delivery against KPIs exceeds expectations.

  • Involvement with business acquisition strategy, planning, and onboarding.

  • Responsible for the growth of accounts, ensuring continuous development and expansion of business opportunities. Compile accurate and up-to-date business planning and forecasting across the Client Services function to align with strategic objectives.

  • Collaborate closely with the Managing Director, Head of Media and Regional CEO to proactively identify potential challenges and develop robust solutions.

  • Leverage skills in prospecting, researching, and data mining to generate new business leads and opportunities, driving further growth and innovation within the company.

Client Services Leadership:

  • Lead all clients and direct the whole Client Services function. Responsible for the office/regional target KPI and P&L and forecast leadership.

  • Direct the resolution of any campaign issues or discrepancies across all clients, drawing upon wider internal and external support as needed. Coaching the Client Team in resolving issues.

  • Team oversight on revenue-generating mindset on margin improvement, negotiations, and trade deals. Build confidence in applying these principles across your team.

  • Know how to optimize the team as a result of business changes (accounts wins/losses).

Department Collaboration:

  • Drive the Client Teamʼs contribution to, and the engagement of the billupsʼ Marketing Team in, the compilation of case studies and other relevant best practice and market intelligence materials. Work with Billups marketing to identify award & PR worthy campaigns.

  • Senior-level oversight and collaboration with the Investment Team regarding trade deal alignment and optimization across markets and vendors.

  • Enable collaborative efforts across all Billups functions: facilitating access to wider Billupsʼ centralized resources within existing or new conversations - for example, Marketing, PlatSol, and Design Teams.

  • Lead conversations to ensure departments are delivering and responding to specific client needs. Collaborate and problem-solve with kindness.

  • Champion change management within the client services department and across the organization, including in areas such as PlatSol, Production, Investment, AdOps, and HR. Lead initiatives that drive innovation and improve processes, ensuring that new methods and technologies are adopted effectively.

Team Leadership Duties

  • Directly and Indirectly (Skip-Level) supervises and leads assigned Assistants, Account Executives, Senior Account Executives, and Account Managers, Senior Account Managers, Account Directors, and Senior Account Directors within the client services team. Responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.

  • Lead the formulation and execution of strategic initiatives that promote team growth and skill enhancement, aligning with the company’s goals to foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

  • Provide ongoing training and development to team members, ensuring they are equipped to meet and exceed expectations.

  • Facilitate the smooth integration of new hires by overseeing their onboarding and training, introducing them to billups and their team, and providing essential company information. Monitor their progress and adjust their training as necessary to ensure successful acclimation.

  • Plan, assign, and direct work; monitor workflow and adjust assignments as necessary to maintain productivity.

  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports, offering clear, actionable, and constructive feedback to promote professional growth and address areas for improvement. Demonstrate capability in identifying underperformance issues, providing targeted coaching, problem-solving, and implementing performance improvement plans to elevate team members back to optimal performance levels.

  • Identify any staffing challenges or needs within your assigned business unit.

  • Monitor staffing hours on senior leadership assigned clients and understand utilization needs.

  • Ability to know when to escalate to BD with any development or personnel conflicts.

  • Establish and communicate clear goals for the team that align with the organization's objectives, and develop strategic plans to achieve these goals efficiently.

Required Media Experience: 12+ years

  • An expert knowledge of the OOH media landscape, demonstrating a knowledgeable opinion on client and supplier news and activity.

  • The desire and ability to work with local teams across multiple regions.

  • Proven experience in successfully leading teams. Delivering the highest standards of client service levels. The ability to manage diverse work groups and functions across timezones, cultures, and geographic locations.

  • Experience prospecting, researching, and data mining for business leads and opportunities.

  • Wide experience in negotiating pricing and booking campaigns.

  • Strong reasoning: the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of data in order to identify and present meaningful observations and recommendations.

  • The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Being able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Adept at using various applications including database, spreadsheet, report writing, project management, graphics, word processing, presentation creation/editing, email communication and CRM software.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in advertising, marketing, or related media field with a preferable background in OOH; 10 or more years of experience in media planning and development especially OOH background; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
