WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR


BHHC is looking for a Senior Loss Control Specialist responsible for providing loss control services to assigned clients in a specific territory. The territory for this role is the New York/New England area, but includes additional travel to other clients occasionally elsewhere. BHHC is committed to providing our insureds and agents with professional loss control services to help reduce the frequency and severity to workplace accidents or loss. As a Senior Loss Control Specialist, you will leverage your knowledge and experience to make recommendations that will improve employee safety & health.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages assigned book of business within a given territory, ensuring service plans are in place, surveys and resurveys are competed, high risk accounts are identified, and Underwriting is kept informed of progress/change.
  • Schedules and completes onsite visits, evaluating workplace environments, identifying risks, and producing thorough documentation of findings and supporting recommendations.
  • Monitors policyholder loss activity and develops strategies for loss reduction.
  • Applies technical knowledge to assist policyholders in identifying key objectives to improve safety and loss control at the workplace. Provides consultative and training services to support the account's risk mitigation objectives.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and training resource for internal business partners and external customers in occupational safety and loss prevention. Conducts onsite training as appropriate.
  • Maintains professional designations and certifications as required by regulatory bodies for assigned territories.
  • Participates in departmental initiatives. Performs special assignments and projects as assigned.


HOW YOU'D FIT IN
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health & Sciences, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • 7+ years of experience providing loss control or occupation-related safety services required, preferably with a workers’ compensation insurance carrier. 
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Ergonomist (CE), and/or Masters-level certification is required.
  • Ability to travel (with an overnight stay) approximately 20-25% of the time
  • Valid Driver's License, required
