Job Summary:   We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our growing property management team. The ideal candidate will support the Controller in overseeing the financial operations of a diverse real estate portfolio, ensuring accuracy in reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficiency in accounting processes.


Reports To: Controller

Position Type: Full-time

Locations: Corporate Office-  1212 Long Beach Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90813 

Pay Rate: $100k-$120k/year 


Requirements

Essential Functions:

· Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

· Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions

· Manage month-end and year-end close processes

· Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

· Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies

· Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors

· Supervise and mentor property accountants

· Maintain property-level financial records and ensure timely reporting

· Assist with cash flow management and bank reconciliations

· Implement process improvements and internal controls

· Other duties as assigned

  

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

· 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management

· Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting

· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, Appfolio) 

· Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

· Affordable Housing knowledge is a plus 


Skills

· Experience with multi-entity accounting

· Familiarity with CAM reconciliations and lease accounting

· Commercial & Residential property management experience

· Advanced Excel skills
