Job Description

Seeking South Asian, East Asian, Southeast Asian, Black, Latino, and Mixed Race talent for "Pirates Wanted!" an interactive and immersive play. Synopsis: Step into a world of piracy, magic, sirens, and adventure. Six weeks ago, a terrible and mysterious storm sank Captain Souvanna's ship, losing her prize vessel and half of her crew. After being stranded on a deserted island for weeks, she and her crew have made their way back to the mainland just in time for the Captain's long-awaited meeting with the Great Pirate Council representative. Now, this wild and wacky crew will first attempt to steal a ship from the British Royal Navy and then turn a ship full of landlubbers (the audience) into actual seaworthy pirates just in time to prove their worthiness to the Great Pirate Council once and for all. However, this is not the only challenge of the night as the threat of the Siren Kingdom and their magic comes to light, and rumors of mutiny abound. It's up to the audience to decide whether this crew will sink or swim as they navigate these unfamiliar waters. Production states: "Pirates Wanted performs aboard the American Pride, a beautiful 130-ft, 3-masted tall ship operated by the Los Angeles Maritime Institute. Audience members will be able to explore this majestic vessel as if they were actual pirates, all while docked at the Pine Avenue Pier in Long Beach's Rainbow Harbor. This is a remount of the critically-acclaimed, award-winning 2024 production! We are looking to fill one deckhand pirate role. We are looking for actors that are very comfortable with improv, preferably with past immersive/interactive theatre experience, and singing or musical instrument skills. Actors should highlight in their submission email if they have this type of experience, a background operating or working on a sailship, or any special skills that could create a spectacle."
