Casting: 'Dance the Kung Fu'
N/A
per year
Job Description
Casting a one-day shoot for "Dance the Kung Fu," which will have exactly 0% kung fu. Must be comfortable with in-the-moment character-driven improvisation. Character notes and details will be provided prior to the shoot. Essentially, the production needs someone who can express fear, rage, revenge, and sympathy within a "woman in trouble" framework. There will be a villain, and the lead will confront the villain. This is not a comedic feature. The production needs seriousness, but also the ability to creatively improvise a range of tones. Think Laura Dern in "Inland Empire" meets Isabella Adjani in "Possession."
The story itself revolves around a maniacal production team that traps two actresses in a house and awards a cash prize to the winner of a number of mental and physical challenges. However, when a real-world catastrophe strikes outside the house, the production turns paranoid, until the threat is over.
