Job Description

Join Axon and be a Force for Good.

At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

Your Impact

We are Axon Platform X (APX) , a group of dedicated product professionals that own, build and operate the mission critical services and capabilities that Axon products need like authentication, evidentiary chain of trust, evidence storage, and x-platform cloud foundations. Our customers are Axon products like Evidence.com, Axon Records, Axon Real Time Operations and Axon Devices (TASER and Connected Cameras) that use our services and APIs to execute the mission of protecting life, reducing social conflict, and building a fair and effective justice system.

The capabilities that APX owns are the heart and lungs for all Axon products. We protect customer trust by securely authenticating users, systems, and first / third party apps as well as enforcing permissions within all Axon products. We ingest well over 10PB of digital evidence per week from Axon products like body cameras and securely storing data for later evidentiary use. APX sets the standards and leads the way for the entire company on operational excellence, incident response, and service reliability engineering. We ensure our systems are highly reliable, scalable, and cost efficient - in support of all world-wide Axon products and services. Every important event of note within Axon products leaves an imprint through our audit services, ensuring trust in our evidence as it moves through the criminal justice system.

You are a Staff Software Engineer with experience building large-scale infrastructure. You have hands-on experience working with major cloud providers such as AWS or Azure, and are adept at designing and managing network and service loads using virtual machines and Kubernetes. You will collaborate with other staff and senior engineers to shape and drive the technical direction for the organization and products. Your strong system design skills will aid you in taking a holistic approach to ensuring our products are bulletproof and fault-tolerant, while meeting demanding interactivity and responsiveness requirements. Your customer-obsession leads you to join forces with product and design to imagine and deliver innovative solutions to key customer problems.

Working closely with senior engineers across teams to review their designs and steer them toward more reliable and sustainable outcomes makes you a force multiplier for your team and the teams around you. You are a great collaborator and coach, and will mentor our next set of engineering leaders. You foster a friendly, open, introspective culture that encourages everyone to speak their mind and avoid red tape, unnecessary rituals, bureaucracy and politics. You embody our company value of Join Forces, and have zero tolerance for people not willing to collaborate.

As a senior technical contributor, you have a passion for technology, and keep abreast of the latest trends, frameworks, and tools. As a technical leader, you advise our senior director of engineering on technical strategy for the org, while balancing our business and engineering priorities to help determine the right long-term initiatives and investments.

Come work in an exciting environment where you use your passion, experience, and analytical skills to help bring new solutions to public safety, and leave a positive impact on the world!
