Job Summary of the VP, Information Technology

The Vice President of Information Technology is a visionary and strategic executive responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with our business objectives, supports innovation, and ensures robust, secure, and scalable technology infrastructure across the enterprise.  The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in regulated environments (e.g. FDA, HIPAA, GxP, SOX), a strong understanding of digital transformation, and a proven track record of leading high-performing IT teams in a high growth publicly traded company.

Requirements of the VP, Information Technology

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field required (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive IT leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior executive role.
  • Experience in a publicly traded MedTech, Pharma, or Biotech company is required.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory compliance (e.g., GxP, HIPAA, FDA, SOX etc).
  • Proven success in leading digital transformation and enterprise IT modernization.
  • Experience supporting clinical trials, regulatory submissions, manufacturing, quality and pharmacovigilance systems.
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and international IT operations.
  • Experience with SOX and internal controls.
  • Advance proficiency in financial systems, including implementations and optimization.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization skills and communication ability (verbal, written, and listening).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and processes and provide actionable insights.
  • Proven project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing competing priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and grow high-performing teams. Proven track record of leading successful teams.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments, build consensus among stakeholders, and drive alignment on complex IT matters.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide insights that drive business decisions.
  • Able to deal with shifting priorities and issues inherent to a fast growing publicly traded organization.

Responsibilities of the VP, Information Technology

The specific duties of the VP, Information Technology include but are not limited to:

  • Define and execute the company’s IT vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with corporate goals.
  • Generate and present project status reports to audit committee, leadership and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team on technology trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to meet business objectives and meet project milestones.
  • Oversee enterprise architecture, cloud strategy, cybersecurity, data governance, and infrastructure operations.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical systems including ERP, CRM, EBR, LIMS, MES, QMS and clinical data platforms.
  • Ensure continued compliance, identity gaps and initiate remediation efforts through periodic system reviews.
  • Drive digital initiatives including AI/ML, data analytics, automation, and IoT to support commercial, manufacturing, admin and R&D operations.
  • Partner with R&D and clinical teams to enable digital health solutions and real-world evidence platforms.
  • Lead enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategy and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, 21 CFR Part 11).
  • Maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting systems in accordance with SOX 404 requirements.
  • Serve as the point person for internal and external audits related to systems and data integrity compliance.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing IT organization.
  • Lead the development and mentorship of a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of accountability, precision, and growth.
  • Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, and technology investments to maximize ROI.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.

This position is eligible for an annual bonus.

Salary Range
$275,000$296,799 USD

Axogen follows healthcare system guidelines with respect to credentialing, vaccinations and other employment/compliance related requirements, as well as CDC guidance. Axogen reserves the right to amend its policies from time to time in its sole discretion.
