Job Description

We are seeking a Quality Manager for our Peachtree City, Georgia manufacturing site. The Quality Manager provides leadership in meeting quality goals, driving quality standards, and continuously improving quality processes. They partner with product, engineering, and operations leaders to introduce quality into the design of Avery Dennison products and in the deployment to manufacturing. The Quality Manager will partner with the Divisional Quality Team and the site leadership team to set quality goals, gather and report on data to monitor progress, and intervene to address goals that are not being met. They will develop and implement quality standards, practices, and controls. They oversee the development, implementation, training, and reinforcement of new quality programs. They will lead the claim handling of customer complaints to identify quality issues, conduct root cause analysis, and lead corrective actions. They will lead continuous improvement efforts for quality standards, processes, and results. All site quality managers lead internal ISO and FSC audits and supplier audits. Quality Managers host external ISO audits and customer requirement audits and lead the effort in responding to external  audits. Quality Managers collect internal and external Customer feedback, develop and implement plans to improve customers satisfaction.

The Quality Manager will establish goals that align their teams with business strategy. They are responsible for the overall results and performance of their teams. This is a hands on role where the Quality Manager will actively be on the plant floor and in the lab solving issues. They will also direct and delegate assignments in a way that allows team members to grow while ensuring successful outcomes. They coach individuals and provide clear feedback to help develop skills and capabilities. They will  motivate and lead their teams through change. They create a healthy, inclusive environment by facilitating open expression of ideas, opinions, and perspectives to drive better decisions and outcomes. 

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, support and develop a diverse team of talent. 

  • Develop and execute cross functional plans to deliver site quality objectives including but not limited to claim count, claim $, internal loss $, claim responsiveness, customer satisfaction goals, ISO compliance, etc.

  • Partner with Leadership Team to align resources and to drive improvements in product quality

  • Enhance and optimize product testing processes, and ensure that they are strictly followed

  • Hold the site accountable for following our non-conforming product processes

  • Update product specifications based on performance testing and analysis

  • Lead the Product Quality Alert process

  • Hands on role to lead efforts to reduce product and process variation

  • Develop and execute on a quality improvement strategy for the site

  • Hands on role to personally lead and complete lot trace, containment and claim investigation and corrective action activities

  • Complete supplier audits

  • Ensure site enters claims to suppliers, request corrective actions and audit the effectiveness of corrective actions

  • Become a trained ISO and FSC lead auditor of LGM-NA, and lead 2 audits per year

  • Accountable for site ISO and FSC compliance

  • Lead site Management of Change and Temporary Operating Deviation processes for the site.

  • Ensure that process change logs are implemented and maintained

  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with quality assurance programs, policies, processes, and procedures under ISO 9001:2015. 

  • Lead calls with internal and external customers and suppliers

  • Provide on-call quality support

  • Work with product design teams to ensure new products meet quality expectations.

  • Instill a quality culture that aggressively identifies and solves quality-related issues.

  • Lead cross-functional project teams & collaborate with all functions, levels of the organization, customers and suppliers.

  • Interact regularly with engineering, manufacturing and commercial functions to establish quality standards for raw material, work in process and finished products and ensure sufficient process capability to consistently meet those standards.

  • Travel to Customers, supplier, and to lead internal audits

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering and/or Material Sciences required

  • 5 years manufacturing or engineering related experience required

  • 3 years experience in a people leadership role within a Quality or Manufacturing Operations function required

  • 5% - 20% travel required for Customer visits, supplier visits, internal audit, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience managing policies, procedures, process, programs, and practices under ISO 9001 (or a similar quality system) to ensure continuous improvement, conformance and effectiveness of Quality System. Statistical analysis and problem solving skills (Six Sigma) 

  • Demonstrated experience with effective Quality Corrective and Preventive Action processes to ensure process improvement and auditing results

  • Ability to quickly acclimate to complex organization: build and develop functional relationships, gain knowledge of products, develop analytical and reporting skills, learn multiple computer-based quality, inventory, and internet/ intranet applications.  

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, support and develop a diverse team of talent.

  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, active listening) and professional behavior.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements of this position.

  • Familiarization with ELS (Continuous Improvement) principles and knowledge of lean sigma tools.
