Job Title: Corporate Controller

Location: Hybrid


Job Summary

The Corporate Controller will be a key leadership position within a national mental health services organization. We are recruiting a highly skilled and detail-oriented Corporate Controller to lead all aspects of the monthly close cycle, monthly account reconciliations, and maintenance of strong internal controls across the company. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of healthcare revenue recognition, experience working in a fast-paced private equity environment, and strong technical accounting capabilities in multi-entity and multi-site/location company. Experience leading post-acquisition integrating of accounting processes, monthly closes, and general ledger systems onto a centralized platform is highly preferred.


Responsibilities:

Month-End Close Process:

  • Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain a standardized close calendar, task checklists, and accountability structure to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in compliance with GAAP.
  • Coordinate with the Finance, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), and Operations teams to validate closing entries and ensure completeness of financial data.

Account Reconciliations:

  • Oversee the preparation and review of all general ledger balance sheet account reconciliations, including cash, receivables, payables, debt, and equity accounts.
  • Ensure reconciliations are completed timely, properly supported, and variances are researched and resolved within a timely manner.
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails for all balance sheet reconciliations to support internal controls and annual external audits.


Leadership and Process Improvement:

  • Lead and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance and oversight on close activities and reconciliations.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, RCM, Operations, and Compliance teams to align financial data and practices.


Treasury and Cash Management Oversight:

  • Daily cash management activities, including cash positioning, bank transfers, and liquidity monitoring.
  • Manage all banking relationships.
  • Preparation of weekly 13-week cash projections.
  • Corporate credit card and virtual bill pay programs.
  • Ensure timely bank reconciliations and maintain effective relationships with banking partners.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls over cash handling and treasury operations.

Requirements

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • MBA preferred
  • Active CPA certification
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience working in roles such as: Controller, Accounting Director, and/or Accounting Manager
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP and healthcare revenue recognition, including payor dynamics

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct) and MS Office suite of products (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence and build consensus with key stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data to drive decisions
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
