The Technology organization enables and accelerates the company’s growth strategies, delivering global capabilities and services in support of Amex’s customers and colleagues, while maintaining 24/7 servicing and availability to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality customer experience. Technology provides the foundation for everything we do in the company while driving differentiation through building and leveraging innovative technology and data insights.
Led by the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Technology organization is comprised of over 20,000 colleagues and contractors globally, who partner across all business units and staff groups to deliver world-class internal and external tech capabilities. The Office of the CIO (OCIO) oversees the strategic planning and operations for the CIO, the Technology Leadership Team, and the broader Technology organization.
We are currently seeking a Vice President Assistant who will report directly to the CIO and lead the business planning and strategy for the OCIO. The Vice President will operate as a “Chief of Staff” for the broader Technology organization and serve as a member of the Technology Leadership Team. This position provides a unique opportunity for an individual looking to play a meaningful role in supporting the strategy and execution of a large-scale enterprise-wide Technology team. They will be responsible ensuring the organization is operating effectively across the team and with key business partners to drive core business objectives, as well as serve as a strategic thought partner to the CIO in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Partner with the CIO and Technology Leadership Team to drive organizational strategy.
- Oversee the day-to-day management and operations of the OCIO, including making processes more efficient, automated and seamless to maximize time and productivity.
- Plan and coordinate content and agendas for key meetings (e.g., leadership meetings, market visits, vendor meetings, etc.), including providing direction to presenters, developing CIO talking points, and managing meeting takeaways.
- Develop high-impact presentations for key internal and external audiences, including Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Technology leadership forums, Town Halls, external presentations, etc.
- Provide strategic and operational support to the CIO on a range of projects and initiatives, as well as serve as proxy for the CIO when needed to ensure proper execution.
- Effectively and independently collaborate with the Technology Leadership Team, their respective Offices, and other Executive Committee Offices.
- Partner closely with key stakeholders (e.g., Colleague Experience Group, Finance, Corporate Affairs & Communications, Technology Business Enablement, Business Vendor Management) on execution of business planning activities such as organization goals, Business Unit Reviews, scorecards, performance management, Strategic Workforce Planning, organization structure changes, quarterly financial updates, enterprise awards, etc.
- Collaborate with Corporate Affairs & Communications on communications strategy and preparation for key engagements.
- Analyze data and generate insights as needed; able to create consumable reports for the CIO when various metrics are requested.
- Plan and manage logistics of important high-profile events, travel, site visits, and internal and external engagements.
- Serve as leader and influencer of the Director Assistant and Manager Assistant community to create/enhance processes, share best practices, and drive efficiency.

- The successful candidate will bring a blend of strategic insight and operational excellence to a highly dynamic and global environment. The candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, a team player, masterful communicator, efficient, and able to context-switch quickly across a wide array of topics, themes and tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively while pushing a variety of projects through to completion. Ability to connect the dots and define the big picture outcomes, while identifying tangible ways to steer teams/leaders towards execution of the outcomes.
- Easily manifests thoughts into consumable artifacts such as PowerPoint presentations, meeting summaries/minutes, reports, and clear emails/messages.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret technical information into language that is understandable by and compelling to target audiences.
- Technology background or experience working closely with Technology organizations. Understanding of core functions within large scale Technology organizations (e.g., Infrastructure, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Product Development, Operations, Controls Management, etc.)
- Executes processes to completion with efficiency. Continuously seeks opportunities for optimization, automation, and creating seamless experiences in business routines.
- Ability to prioritize, manage deadlines, and handle changing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Advanced PowerPoint skills, and the ability to develop/structure presentations with compelling narratives, graphics and visual design in support of executive presentations.
- Analytical and financial acumen; including Excel skills and the ability to convert data into insights.
- Extremely detail-oriented. Triple-checks content and logistics while being planful for contingencies. Anticipates needs and acts proactively.
- Impeccable integrity with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentially.
- Strong relationship-building skills across all levels. Collaborative, humble, and people-oriented by nature. Able to navigate and resolve conflict.
- Strong influencing and coaching skills.
- Stays informed on modern technology trends, such as Artificial Intelligence, and how it affects the industry.
- New York-based position, with the ability to travel globally.

Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
