About the Role
The Data Platform team at AKASA is a deeply cross-functional team, consisting of engineering, analytics, and data science roles. The team collaborates closely with most teams throughout the organization, including but not limited to; Product, Core Platform Engineering, Machine Learning, and Customer Engagement.
As a Software Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will support Machine Learning’s efforts to train in-house models via custom data pipeline development, directly contribute to product development through in-app dashboarding, and enable Analytics and Data Science efforts by developing core Data Platform infrastructure and tooling.
The AKASA office is located in South San Francisco. While we support remote work on a variety of teams, we have a strong Bay Area presence across the company. For this role, we're looking for someone to join either our Bay Area team every Wednesday in the office or our NYC team for co-working days.
What You'll Do
Work with a tech stack including but not limited to: Python, Postgres, Redshift, Prefect, Kubernetes, Grafana, and various additional AWS services such as SQS and Cloudwatch
Build new and maintain existing data pipelines to support Machine Learning model training and scalable customer deployments
Support Analytics and Data Science initiatives via building and maintaining core Data Platform infrastructure and tooling
Contribute directly to product development via maintaining in-app dashboarding infrastructure
Explore new technologies and grow your technical skillset
Skills & Qualifications
BS in Computer Science/Software Engineering, or similar
3+ years of software engineering or data engineering experience
Professional experience in Python and SQL
Cloud computing experience (AWS preferably)
Demonstrable knowledge of software development fundamentals and experience across the software development lifecycle
A delivery focused mindset
A passion and excitement about healthcare’s unique challenges and opportunities
Nice to haves:
Data platforms, data pipelines, or comparable services
Data Warehousing (Amazon Redshift preferably)
Scheduling/orchestration technologies such as Prefect or Airflow
Kubernetes
BI tools (Tableau/Looker/Quicksight/SuperSet etc)

Compensation
Based on market data and other factors, the salary range for this position is $180,000 - $205,000 + Equity. However, a salary higher or lower than this range may be appropriate for a candidate whose qualifications differ meaningfully from those listed in the job description.
