You will work on further developing a portfolio already containing client names such as DHL, Johnson & Johnson, FDA, DMV, PwC, KeyBank, Spotify, and H&R BLOCK.
We’re looking for a Principal DevOps and Cloud Deployment Engineer to lead how we build, deploy, and support ABBYY Vantage in on-prem environments. This role combines infrastructure, automation, and cloud deployment skills to deliver a system that’s reliable, secure, and easy to manage for enterprise customers.
This is more than just writing scripts or managing servers. You’ll need to bring strong technical judgment, good communication, and a mindset for solving real problems. Your work will shape how customers deploy and operate our product, especially in complex setups.
Responsibilities
- Design and improve how ABBYY Vantage is deployed and managed in on-prem environments, with a focus on making the process smoother, faster, and safer
- Build tools and write scripts to remove manual work from installs, upgrades, and maintenance, helping the team move faster with fewer mistakes
- Work across the stack to solve hard problems, from debugging service failures to sorting out tricky network issues
- Partner with engineers and product teams to reduce complexity and make deployments and upgrades more predictable and easier to support
- Add the right logging, monitoring, and diagnostics to make the system easier to operate and support in the field
- Help guide infrastructure decisions, tool selection, and how we apply DevOps practices to keep our systems healthy and maintainable
- Support the growth of others by sharing knowledge, mentoring teammates, and pushing for better ways of working
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure roles, including time in senior or lead positions
- Strong Linux background and experience managing large-scale systems
- Experience automating deployments and operational tasks
- Strong skills in debugging distributed systems and understanding infrastructure failures
- Hands-on experience with on-prem enterprise software delivery and support
- Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell, etc.)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and container-based systems
- Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
- Experience with packaging and delivery systems (MSI, RPM, Docker images)
- Familiarity with Terraform, Pulumi, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Windows Server and Active Directory integration
- Awareness of security standards and enterprise compliance needs (SOC2, FedRAMP, etc.)
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments or supporting both on-prem and cloud systems
- Experience optimizing CI/CD pipelines for large engineering teams
- Ability to work directly with customer-facing teams or enterprise clients during deployment or incident resolution
- Experience with Ansible for configuration management
- Experience with ArgoCD for GitOps-based continuous delivery setups
