Job Description

The Associate Director, Interventional Glaucoma - Surgical Marketing, is responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic marketing plans to deliver strong business performance for AbbVie’s only eye care medical device. This person’s key responsibilities are to lead the strategic vision and tactical execution including product positioning, key messaging, and lifecycle management. This person will collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders including field sales, medical affairs, clinical training, market access, key accounts and customers to drive the brand’s strategic imperatives. This person will serve as the US commercial lead for the integrated brand team (IBT), annual brand planning process (SP2), and asset strategy team (AST). This person will partner with the marketing analytics and business insights (MABI) team to gather, analyze, and synthesize market and financial data. This person will manage all brand promotion strategies including campaigns, promotional assets, and internal/external communications. This person with collaborate with the agency on record (AOR) to create new promotional collateral including media, non-personal promotion, and rep-delivered tools. This person will prepare the launch strategy for upcoming label expansion.

Main Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the execution of the strategic marketing plan. Utilize market and business insights to create a strategic plan that drives results.
  • Deliver marketing assets that pull through on strategic imperatives including peer-to-peer content, rep-delivered tools, and non-personal promotion. Measure impact of tools and resources and adjust strategy as needed.  
  • Conduct business performance analysis on a regular and ad-hoc basis. Diagnose obstacles to brand growth and work collaboratively to provide solutions.
  • Prepare forecast assumptions, including unit demand and sales forecasts. Prepare commercial support and presentations for forecasting cycles.
  • Present regularly to cross-functional team and to senior leaderships regarding brand planning, performance and analytics.
  • Lead marketing materials through the MRP process from concept review to final approval, via close collaboration with legal, compliance, regulatory and medical.
  • Represent the US commercial strategy as a member of the asset strategy team.
  • Own and manage assigned direct marketing expense budget, proactively coordinate with brand team, finance and other cross functional partners.
  • Develop effective working relationships with sales force, key physicians, brand teams and executive leadership.
  • Provide brand support for national and regional congresses and society meetings.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; Master's degree from an accredited institution preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare sales/marketing experience required; buy-and-bill and/or surgical device experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 years product management experience required; direct to physician marketing experience preferred

Essential Skills, Experience, and Competencies:

  • Strong business acumen, forecasting, and analytics
  • Ability to translate insights into strategy and strategy into tactics
  • Marketing/brand management experience executing marketing campaigns, preferably in buy-and-bill or surgical device marketing
  • Track record of commercial success with buy-and-bill, physician administer therapeutics, and/or procedural therapies
  • Influence business leaders and effectively collaborate cross-functionally to deliver results
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Physician/KOL relationship experience, ophthalmology/glaucoma preferred
  • Ability to work across multiple internal stakeholders to move ideas forward
  • Strong creative, critical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Storytelling and clear communication skills, both verbal/presentation and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence across diverse set of stakeholders
  • Financial/budget management experience
  • Consulting experience preferred

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​ Salary: $137,500 - $261,000
