What’s the role?
This Financial Analyst I role is pivotal to supporting Carl Zeiss Meditec Cataract Technology Inc. (CZMCTI) as it drives financial clarity and strategic insight within the organization. This position is responsible for leading the entity’s budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes, working closely with CZMI Finance & Controlling and SAS Business Segment Controllers to ensure seamless integration and accuracy. The responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial statements, managing budgets, tracking inventory variances, ensuring accurate journal entries, month-end-closing, and balance sheet reconciliations, and create cash forecasting.
Furthermore, this role is responsible to drive strategic projects across our MED North American entities, contributing analytical expertise and business acumen to create synergy effects and support business decision-making.
The job owner should possess strong problem-solving skills, curiosity to understand the reasons behind numbers, a sharp analytical mindset, accounting knowledge, and the confidence to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. The role is reporting to the CFO MED North America and is part of a dynamic, forward-thinking finance team

Here’s what you’ll do:
Lead Financial Planning & Reporting
Drive budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with CZMI Finance and SAS Business Segment Controllers
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Ensure accurate financial records and compliance with accounting policies
Ensure adherence to Zeiss Financial reporting standards
Manage journal entries, account reconciliations, and ERP uploads for month-end and year-end close
Deliver insightful variance analysis and forecasting support to key stakeholders
Monitor cost of goods sold and inventory variances
Oversee tax filings including Sales & Use Tax, Property Tax, MBT, and 1099s
Track capital expenditures and maintain fixed asset records
Support Business Case Development & Forecasting
Collaborate with business and BS Controllers to build and update business cases
Analyze performance, recommend corrective actions, and if required, support external consultant requests
R&D and Operations Planning and Spending
Conduct R&D planning and spend analyses, enabling managers to interpret results and take action
Partner with MED Operations Controlling to align cost structures and billing models, and analysis of operations spending
Process Improvement & Automation
Identify and implement enhancements to financial processes and reporting tools at CZMCTI
Strategic Finance Projects
Actively contribute to strategic initiatives across the region and entities
Lead finance and controlling workstreams in key projects and support CFO and business in fact-based decision-making
Assist in designing efficient organizational structures and support M&A or partnership initiatives
Deliver ad hoc financial analyses to support business decisions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Liaise with U.S. SSC Finance and global OPT/MCS Controlling teams on manufacturing, sales and business controlling activities
Do you qualify?
BA/BS in Finance or comparable relevant degree required. Master Business Administration preferred.
1-2 years of financial planning and analysis experience or adjacent area.
Fluent in English, strategic thinking, strong analytical/ problem solving skills, MS-Office, SAP, IFRS or US GAAP knowledge, reporting-systems, intercultural knowledge, project management, high level of communication skills

The annual pay range for this position is $79,500 - $99,400.
The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
This position is also eligible for a performance bonus.
