This position is a hybrid in-office role that works out of our Headquarters in Boston, MA (this role is not a virtual / remote position).

Wayfair’s Finance group is looking for a Tax Senior  to join our tax team! This role will be part of the global tax team within the Wayfair Finance Department, and it will be based on our Boston office. This role is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong foundation in federal and state tax compliance to contribute to the tax function. The successful candidate will play a key role in the team, gaining exposure to many areas of tax.

The Tax team at Wayfair is responsible for the global corporate tax and transfer pricing compliance, strategically planning to minimize tax burdens, and diligently managing associated risks. Reporting directly to the Senior Tax Manager, the Tax Senior will be responsible for state and federal tax returns and extension filings, preparing income tax provisions, and assisting with tax audits. Members of this team work closely with various other teams and departments and this role requires someone who has strong tax technical knowledge and good communication skills. What You'll Do

  • Prepare and manage U.S. federal and state income tax filings and estimated payments, ensuring compliance with evolving tax laws and deadlines.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740, supporting timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Support income tax audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and coordinating with external advisors and auditors.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external auditors to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and maintain accurate, audit-ready tax records.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc tax projects, including research and analysis of tax law changes, business initiatives, and cross-functional planning efforts.
  • Leverage technology and automation tools to improve tax processes and enhance operational efficiency in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

What You'll Need

  • A bachelor’s degree in commerce, accounting, taxation or a related field.
  • 4+ years’ experience in public or private accounting, working in the tax department.
  • Experience with federal and state tax compliance with a strong technical background.
  • Experience working with ONESOURCE tax provision software, or an equivalent tax provision software system.
  • Masters in taxation or CPA is preferred but not required.
