Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Manager of Operational Security leads and directs the physical security program for Regulated Utilities, providing strategic oversight of physical and electronic security operations across the Utilities. Reporting to the VP of Operational Performance and Technology, this strategic role develops and executes the organization's security vision while managing security solutions, critical infrastructure protection measures, and regulatory compliance requirements to safeguard facilities, personnel, and assets. Working in partnership with IT, local operations teams, and government agencies, this position drives comprehensive security strategies encompassing both technology solutions and physical security measures while developing forward-thinking approaches to address emerging threats in the utility sector.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Develop and execute comprehensive physical security roadmap and strategies.
  • Lead security system design and implementation projects across the enterprise.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and industry partners.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain physical security policies, standards, and best practices.

Security Operations Management

  • Oversee Security Management System (Genetec), access control, and visitor management systems.
  • Manage security vulnerability assessments and implement protective measures.
  • Lead internal/external security investigations as required.

Technology & Systems Integration

  • Partner with IT to evaluate, implement, and maintain security technologies.
  • Oversee integration of physical and electronic security systems.
  • Research and validate emerging security technologies and solutions.
  • Manage security system maintenance and upgrade programs.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Conduct security risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and security policies.
  • Monitor and analyze security trends and incidents.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and best practices.

Training & Communication

  • Develop and implement security awareness and training programs.
  • Present security updates to various stakeholders including management and field staff.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to resource owners.
  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships with operations and IT teams.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; and five to ten years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in security management within utility or critical infrastructure environments, including demonstrated expertise in physical security systems and access control technologies (e.g., Genetec).
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing security strategies and programs, including experience with security system design, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance in an operational environment.
  • Experience building collaborative relationships with law enforcement agencies, managing cross-functional teams, and leading security technology integration projects.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of security systems integration, including Genetec or similar platforms, access control, video surveillance, and alarm systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement comprehensive physical security strategies and roadmaps.
  • Strong management skills with experience leading complex, cross-functional security initiatives.
  • Knowledge of security risk assessment methodologies and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and contract security operations.
  • Experience conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to make sound security recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Experience developing and delivering security awareness training programs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to field locations in the Utility Division.
  • Ability to travel up to (40%).

Additional Information

Pay Rate: $102000 to a maximum of $126000 Per Year.
