Department of Earth, Environmental and Geographic Sciences

Lecturer

The Irving K. Barber School of Science at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus, invites applications for a limited term position in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Geographic Sciences, at the rank of Lecturer. This is a part time 0.5 FTE, 3-year term position with an expected start date of September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be a member of the Department of Earth, Environmental and Geographic Sciences (https://eegs.ok.ubc.ca/).

Applicants must have a PhD in Freshwater Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, or a related field, by the time of appointment. Applicants with all fields of expertise are encouraged to apply, but we are particularly interested in applicants with a demonstrated ability to teach courses in Freshwater Science and evidence of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. The successful applicant should be prepared to teach a range of up to 4 undergraduate courses related directly to department needs. There may be opportunities to develop and teach upper-level courses in the candidate’s own area of specialization. The successful applicant will also help administer, modify, and grow the Freshwater Science degree program in consultation with community, government and First Nations stakeholders.
