Founded by NASA, Google, Sidewalk Labs, Waymo, and Cruise experts, Thalo is a tech-enabled services company transforming the HVAC industry with next-generation sensing and AI-powered intelligence. Heat pump and other HVAC failures cost billions in emergency repairs and wasted energy annually, and are managed by an increasingly short-handed labor pool.  Thalo’s AI-powered platform transforms static assets into self-monitoring, high-performance systems, empowering technicians to shift from reactive fixes to proactive service.

Our team has built self-driving cars at Waymo, worked on satellite imagery at Google, designed systems for John Deere, developed space missions for NASA, led manufacturing design for Boom Supersonic jets, and more. We are united by our shared goal of making products that help us decarbonize today and accelerate drawdown globally.

Our ideal candidate is excited to operate at both the strategic and execution levels, wearing multiple hats, jumping between hands-on IC engineer work and higher level leadership work, diving into whatever needs to be done. From iterating on new ways to manage,  translate, and communicate our data into actionable insights for customers, to mentoring engineers on the team, to partnering with our GTM and hardware teams to define and clarify our product needs, you’ll be foundational to leading all things software at Thalo Labs. • Thalo Labs believes everyone should be compensated fairly. At our ground-floor stage, our compensation structure places a strong emphasis on the value of high equity, with an annual base salary ranging from $130,000-$160,000.

• Architect, build, and ship an AI enabled monitoring and analytics platform that delivers tens of thousands of automated insights to end customers daily and monthly to transform how HVAC companies, building owners, and industry experts operate and service buildings, save money, and lower emissions.
• Own the architecture, design, and delivery of multiple full-stack features and products.
• Develop data-driven customer facing UI/UX, preferably incorporating the latest in gen AI tools.
• Develop high-quality software that runs in the cloud and on Thalo hardware at customer sites.
• Continuously maintain and improve software infrastructure for large-scale data ingestion, storage, transformation, and analysis.
• Collaborate with peers in hardware engineering, customer success, and GTM to promote the seamless transition of data from bits to customer insights and dashboards.

• 5+ years of software development experience as a full-stack engineer, backend engineer, or other role with full-stack exposure.
• A.I. Tools At least 1 year of experience researching and using modern AI tools to improve product output and development speed.  
• Web and Data Applications Experience developing, deploying, and managing customer facing, full-stack, large-scale web and data-intensive applications.
• Tech Stack Comfort with our tech stack (React, Typescript, Python, Pandas, Django, Terraform, AWS)
• Cloud Infrastructure Experience with provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and deploying to production cloud infrastructure.
• Leadership: Prior experience and a passion for leading incredible teams and fostering a best-in-class work culture.

• A passion for tackling climate change and promoting sustainability.
• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science.
• Experience developing for complex hardware/software systems or IoT devices.
• Background with containerized microservices and distributed systems
• Fluency with time-series data sets.
