Salary Range: $115,502 – $160,000 (based on experience)
Bonus Structure: Incentive bonus up to 26.25% based on performance

Job Description

A leading healthcare organization in Anchorage, AK is seeking a Director of Emergency Services to lead a dynamic and high-performing ER department. This role is ideal for a seasoned nurse leader with a passion for emergency care, quality outcomes, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a 16-bed Emergency Department plus 4 fast track beds

  • Oversee approximately 90 FTEs, including nursing, trauma, transport, and monitor techs

  • Direct strategic and daily operations of the ED, ensuring exceptional patient care

  • Maintain accountability for quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and clinical outcomes

  • Partner with senior leaders and medical staff to enhance emergency services and patient throughput

  • Lead department budgeting, labor management, and expense controls

  • Implement evidence-based practices to drive patient safety and satisfaction

  • Foster an engaged, high-performing clinical team with a strong patient-centered culture

  • Drive continuous improvement in patient experience and performance metrics

  • Report directly to the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required)

  • Master’s Degree (preferred)

  • 1+ year of prior leadership experience in emergency services (required)

  • 3+ years of clinical emergency care leadership (preferred)

  • Active RN license (or eligible for Alaska licensure)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and manage clinical operations at scale

Emergency Department Overview:

  • Average Daily Volume: 120 patients (40,000+ annually)

  • No trauma designation, but includes stroke care and emergency transport oversight
