Student Research Assistant | Civil & Environmental Engineering (5 Positions)

The Student Research Assistant, under general supervision, will assist the Department of Civil Engineering with project work, conducting analysis and design of a machine and structural components on research sponsored by The Rio Grande Consortium and the ABTC Project. This research will help the student prepare for industry careers.

Responsibilities:

• Assist faculty and staff on research projects
• Perform general office tasks Interest in research relating to structural and/or machine components design and simulation analysis using ANSYS and/or STAAD software programs.
• Assist with special projects as assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

• Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
• Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
• No prior experience necessary
• For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours for the fall/spring terms.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Engineering majors only.
• Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
• Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Interest in research relating to structural and/or machine components design and simulation analysis using ANSYS and/or STAAD software programs.
