Job Description

As the Senior Manager Operational Risk, you will oversee and challenge first-line risk management activities, partnering with business and functional teams to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks. The role involves enhancing risk policies and procedures, leading deep dives into risk and control practices, and presenting insights and recommendations to senior leaders. You’ll also build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute as an individual expert in Risk Management or Compliance. 

In this role you will:

  • Deliver high quality and commercially conscious risk advice that influences decision making. 
  • Advise on the development and implementation of new risk management practices. 
  • Support Line 1 and Line 2 in the business to effectively manage delivered risk associated with strategic change initiatives. 
  • Lead risk and control deep dives that provide insights as well as commercially viable and practical recommendations. 
  • Produce high quality and timely risk reports capturing deep and actionable insights for senior management.   
  • Monitor developments in relevant professional fields and act as a source of technical guidance to resolve escalated problems and provide advice on the business impact of Risk Management and Compliance requirements. 

Qualifications

  • Significant experience (8+years) in a Risk Management role within a financial services organisation.
  • Deep experience planning and executing targeted risk and control reviews.
  • Proven success in developing, implementing and maintaining appropriate risk frameworks, policies, standards and procedures.
  • Proven ability to draw risk insights from integrated risk profiling and process mapping initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written risk reports and confidently present key messages to senior stakeholders via risk forums.
  • Ability to assimilate external analysis and trend data and apply it to the control optimisation landscape in TAL incorporating a fit for purpose approach to ongoing maintenance of TAL frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate the risk management expectations relevant to the portfolio
