Job Description

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a skilled and proactive OpenShift Support Engineer to join our cloud infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in managing OpenShift clusters, deploying containerized applications, and providing end-to-end platform support. This role requires strong technical knowledge of Kubernetes and OpenShift, with a focus on ensuring system reliability, performance, and security. The engineer will collaborate closely with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support scalable and resilient containerized environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

·       Manage and maintain Red Hat OpenShift clusters to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.

·       Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot containerized applications and services using OpenShift and Kubernetes.

·       Continuously monitor cluster health, performance, and capacity; implement optimization strategies as needed.

·       Collaborate with development teams to deploy, scale, and manage microservices-based applications.

·       Configure and maintain critical platform integrations such as NTP, LDAP, and storage solutions for persistent data.

·       Implement and maintain robust security practices, including vulnerability patching and access controls for OpenShift environments.

·       Automate operational tasks using scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) and infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible and Terraform.

·       Support backup, disaster recovery, and failover solutions for containerized workloads.

·       Perform regular upgrades and patching of OpenShift components and dependencies.

·       Troubleshoot issues related to networking, storage, and application performance in containerized environments.

·       Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and platform optimization initiatives.

·       Evaluate third-party tools and plugins to enhance cluster capabilities and improve operational efficiency.

·       Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation, including SOPs, best practices, and troubleshooting playbooks.

·       Stay updated with the latest developments in OpenShift, Kubernetes, and container orchestration technologies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • Preferred banking experience
    • 4+ years of experience in private cloud infrastructure engineering or similar roles.
    • Proven track record of managing large-scale private cloud environments 
  • Technical Expertise:

o   Proven experience managing OpenShift clusters in a production environment.

o   Strong troubleshooting skills for Kubernetes, OpenShift, and containerized workloads.

o   Hands-on experience with NTP and LDAP configuration in OpenShift.

o   Solid understanding of container networking, storage management, and performance monitoring.

o   Experience implementing security best practices for containerized environments.

o   Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, development, and infrastructure teams.

o   Familiarity with disaster recovery, backups, and high-availability design.
