The Opportunity
The WSDOT is seeking an energetic and reliable individual to fill the role of Administrative Assistant 2 located at the North Central Region (NCR) Headquarters Office. The Administrative Assistant must possess the ability to quickly foster positive working relationships with internal and external customers to provide administrative support and customer service. The successful candidate must have excellent organizational skills to execute a wide variety of deadline driven secretarial activities with accuracy and efficiency. What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Administrative Assistant 2 will:
- Provides customer service and administrative support
- Proficiently uses WSDOT software and tools, including DOTtime, TRAINS, Oracle, the Purchasing Card Management System (PCMS), online bill pay accounts, Crew Manager, insideDOT, and the Internet to conduct daily duties and responsibilities.
- Receives visitors, following established check-in safety and security procedures.
- Answers and routes phone calls in a timely fashion to appropriate personnel.
- Receives and prepares incoming and outgoing mail.
- Orders office supplies and other items as needed.
- Manages conference room and state pool car calendars and requests for building use.
- Pays and processes accounts payable and receivable, verifying accuracy, approvals, and charge codes.
- Manages the petty cash account and makes deposits.
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following competencies are required:
- Knowledge of clerical functions and familiarity with office management and administration.
- Proficient computer skills, including electronic filing systems, Microsoft Office, and web-based applications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of excellent customer service principles.
- Excellent listening and verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to evaluate requests, offer options to customers, prioritize, multi-task, and focus with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Superb organizational skills.
- Attentiveness to detail.
In addition, the following is required:
- High school diploma or GED.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
- Previous experience in administrative, timekeeping, accounts payable, and other customer service work.
- Aptitude to learn new software, skills, and processes necessary or beneficial to job duties.
- Propensity to be proactive and anticipate customer and business needs.
- Previous work experience with the State of Washington.
- Experience in providing support for large meetings and events.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Spanish language capability.

- The salary range listed includes the legislative approved general wage increase of 3%, effective on July 1, 2025.
- In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position. For union-represented positions, more information on other forms of compensation can be found in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements. Information on other compensation types for non-represented positions can be found in Chapter 357-28 of the Washington Administrative Code.
