About the Position

This position is with the MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT, JACKSON, MS, in HINDS COUNTY. This professional-level Administrative Support incumbent at this level is accountable for a variety of support service functions such as personnel support, general accounting, maintenance of files and records, and approval of requisitions for payment of operating expenses. Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, paying invoices, assigning general maintenance requests, and serving as the administrative support for the director. Assists administrative support supervisors in the administration of agency programs and operations, in the coordination of communications internally and externally, and in representing the agency to the public. The employee performs work exercising a high degree of confidentiality essential in executing assigned duties. The work involves frequent contact with various public and private groups and officials to exchange non-routine information as well as to interpret rules and regulations. Independent decision-making is exercised in all facets of this work, including disseminating confidential information. At this level, employees provide executive administrative support to an agency head.

Preferred Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4-6 years of experience. Agency preferred: Knowledge of the state's MAGIC system and state procurement process is preferred; proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required.
