What is a People Operations Coordinator at salt:

As the People Operations Coordinator, you’ll provide essential day-to-day support for our People Operations Team, keeping our systems organized, processes smooth, and people informed. Reporting directly to the Senior People Operations Manager, you’ll help manage contractor workflows, assist with benefits coordination, support employee onboarding/offboarding, and play a key role in keeping team initiatives and admin tasks running efficiently.

This is a great role for someone early in their People Ops career who’s highly organized, detail-driven, and eager to learn the ropes in a creative, startup-style environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contractor & Freelance Support

    • Help coordinate onboarding and offboarding of short-term contractors and freelancers

    • Track completion of contracts, tax forms, NDAs, and compliance documentation

    • Maintain contractor database and availability tracking systems

  • Onboarding, Offboarding & Recruiting Coordination

    • Schedule candidate interviews and manage communication during the hiring process

    • Support onboarding for both employees and contractors: gather forms, assign trainings, and send welcome materials

    • Assist with exit logistics including surveys, offboarding checklists, and asset returns

  • Benefits & HR Support (Entry-Level)

    • Assist with benefits enrollment logistics, documentation tracking, and employee questions

    • Partner with accounting teams to reconcile benefit billing to ensure accuracy for employee changes

    • Keep background checks up to date and audited on a regular basis

    • Help maintain up-to-date records for eligibility, leaves, and status changes

    • Support open enrollment and wellness communication efforts in partnership with Senior People Operations Manager.

  • Project Coordination & Streamlining

    • Assist with People Ops projects (e.g., handbook updates, process documentation, internal tool audits)

    • Track task completion and follow-ups across team initiatives and engagement efforts

    • Ensure company resources (documents and dashboards) are up to date, accurate, and accessible to ensure employees feel supported and informed.

    • Identify opportunities to streamline manual workflows and improve document organization

  • Administrative & Systems Support

    • Maintain organized digital employee files and HR documentation

    • Help with calendar scheduling, communications, event logistics, and general team support

    • Create and update internal templates, forms, and resource guides

    • Additional duties as needed to support People Operations and the organization overall.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in a People/HR coordinator, admin, or intern role (agency, events, or creative environment a plus)

  • Highly organized and process-oriented—you get satisfaction from a clean spreadsheet

  • Friendly, proactive, and eager to help behind the scenes

  • Comfortable juggling shifting priorities in a fast-paced setting

  • Tech-savvy and excited to learn new systems; bonus if you’ve used Airtable, G-Suite, or Rippling platforms

  • A natural communicator with a people-first mindset
