Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seek a Proctoring Program Manager to support the Consortium of Abortion Providers (CAPS) team. This job reports to the Director, Clinical Operations, CAPS in the Care & Access Division of PPFA. The CAPS mission is to advance equitable access to high-quality, patient-centered abortion care through training, financial support, program development, technical assistance, and collaboration. The Proctoring Program Manager will support this mission by providing on-site support of clinical skills utilized by Planned Parenthood affiliate abortion programs, including ultrasound and other integral services. They will also deliver foundational training sessions to affiliate and national office staff as a CAPS U trainer. CAPS U is a live, online monthly training providing foundational instruction in abortion care provision. The Proctoring Program Manager will also be responsive to additional affiliate staff needs that the CAPS team identifies as they interface with health center staff and national office leadership. This role will be a telecommuter with up to 75% travel. 


Purpose:

The Proctoring Program Manager, CAPS, provides expertise in delivering proctoring skills for abortion services across the Federation, supports the management of the CAPS proctoring programs, and serves as the primary facilitator and program manager for CAPS U. 


Engagement: 

• Thoughtfully and skillfully lead engagements with affiliate staff and CAPS U participants that facilitate meaningful learning.

• Create supportive spaces for facilitation and dialogue

• Identify and adapt to individual learning styles 

• Handle difficult follow-up conversations and model skills of reconciliation and repair

• Explain complex information in clear and understandable terms

• Communicate authentically and be responsive to different audiences, reading the emotion of the room and pivoting as needed

• Continuously model the work for employees and guide them through their own learning as a coach -- not a lecturer.


Delivery:

• The Proctoring Program Manager, CAPS, will work with other CAPS team members to provide abortion care technical support to affiliate staff who provide abortion services and training across the federation through: 

• Serving as a proctor for abortion-related services, including: 

• Values Clarification

• Patient Education and Consent

• Lab Testing

• Ultrasound

• Patient Support and Advocacy

• Sedation

• Recovery Room Care

• Providing information and technical assistance to support the work of non-licensed staff and licensed staff in affiliate health care delivery programs

• Managing the development, scheduling, management, and tracking of CAPS U

• Serving as the primary facilitator for CAPS U engagements 

• Identifying opportunities to improve the proctoring program and CAPS U processes and collaborating with team members to codify solutions

• Other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): 

• Clinical licensure (RN, NP, PA, CNM) preferred; will consider candidates with an extensive background in direct patient care, inclusive of ultrasound and sedation work.

• Minimum 2-5 years of experience providing sexual and reproductive care (experience with abortion care preferred)

• Expertise in the provision of ultrasound services for early pregnancy complications, medication abortion, first and second-trimester abortion, and management of abortion complications, including demonstrated knowledge in performing ultrasound exams 

• Must be able to maintain high standards of confidentiality and practice ethical communication

• Experience in virtual, group, and one-on-one facilitation

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Must be self-aware, with high emotional intelligence

• Demonstrable skills in coaching and providing patient-centered care

• Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new software programs

• Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and to be a self-starter

• Comfort working within a protocol-based clinical care system

• Ability to travel by plane and/or car to health centers as needed


Travel: 50-75% domestic

$90,000 - $100,000 a year

Roles that are denoted as NYC, DC, or both will work a hybrid schedule and are expected to work in their assigned PPFA office a minimum 2 days per week unless the role is denoted as onsite, which requires working onsite full time or 5 days per week.
