Job Summary
We are looking to hire a Chief Engineer for a potential multi-satellite commercial program that we are bidding. The Program Chief Engineer will be the principal engineering authority responsible for ensuring the engineering execution of the entire program. You will have the authority to establish the program technical baseline, approve designs, approve resolution of discrepancy reports (DRs) and designate the Responsible Engineering Authority for the program. You will provide the necessary senior technical leadership spanning concept definition, requirements, design, analysis, test and operations of space vehicles and ground systems to help drive the success of the program
This position's internal job code is Production Engineering Manager. Our team is hiring for a level K.
Responsibilities
- Program engineering point of contact with the customer, program office, and other internal and external stakeholders related to the program
- Ensure the technical integrity and execution of all engineering deliverables related to the program
- Authority to manage and direct all lead engineers across the program to ensure the overall system design is optimized to meet the contractual requirements, including required performance, technical integrity, and cost and schedule constraints
- Collaboratively work with each flight development team assigned to the program to establish and validate customer needs, and develop them into technical requirements, ensuring our designs are consistent with mission objectives
- Remain engaged in the entire lifecycle of the program, from proposal, to engineering development, design requirements, test verification, production, and operations of the space vehicles
- Monitor and forecast staffing against planned program work, and engage with teams across the enterprise to ensure adequate resources are allocated
- Ensure all Engineering risks relative to the program are captured and that the relative mitigation plans are in place
- Oversee the flight program’s independent review, and evaluate and approve engineering inputs to the space system’s program readiness gates and reviews
- Determine the acceptability of decisions impacting product integrity and the engineering execution of the program
- Interact with customers, company leadership and suppliers, responding to program requests for information and supporting technical meetings
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other technical field
- 10+ years engineering experience in aerospace industry, specifically in satellite development
- Strong background in systems and design engineering
- Demonstrated ability to interface with customers, management, and peers both internally and externally
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, lead and communicate effectively with a range of engineering disciplines and other support roles across the enterprise
Preferred Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Master’s degree in Engineering or other technical field
- Experience with aerospace environments other than traditional, large prime contractors
- Experience with Intelligence Community and Department of Defense customer communities and their project management practices
Summary Pay-Range
Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only of what is reasonably expected to be paid for the position. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
- Level K: $138,550 - $203,750
