Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach is seeking for an Assistant Director of Finance to join our exciting Finance team. Don't miss this unique opportunity to be part of our award-winning team, while beginning your career with the world's leading luxury hotel company!

The Assistant Director of Finance works closely alongside the Director of Finance, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Accounting Department, accompanied by communication and coordination with all other Resort’s teams. Alongside Director of Finance, the Assistant Director of Finance will be responsible of labor meeting, forecast meeting, ownership meeting and other resort activities.  

What you will do

  • Oversee and manage $100 million revenue budget/forecasts, including payroll and operating expense. (Continuous) (11%) 
  • Oversee and direct five (5) professional employees and a contracted outside financial services provider. (Continuous) (10%) 
  • Manage, schedule, coach, and motivate staff to ensure adherence to cultural and core standards. (10%) 
  • Forecast, oversee and manage labor expense in the resort, via labor meetings, schedule reviews etc. (10%)
  • Prepare performance reviews and development plans, taking appropriate personnel-related action (i.e., hire, commend, discipline, evaluate, etc.) with Accounting staff as required. (8%) 
  • Plan, organize, lead, and control the day-to-day activities within the Finance Department. (5%) 
  • Develop and participate in staff training programs to minimize turnover and maintain high morale, with particular emphasis on individuals qualifying for future advancement. (3%) 
  • Meet regularly with Director of Finance to communicate all accounting activities and results of the Accounting office meeting or any other issues. (5%) 
  • Oversee and coordinate preparation of financial statements, accruals and journal entries, reconciliations of balance sheet accounts in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. (5%) 
  • Coordinate and oversee all operating equipment and supply inventories in accordance with corporate polices. (2%) 
  • Oversee preparation of all local, state, and federal tax returns and other reporting on a timely basis. (3%) 
  • Approval all journal entries with supporting documentation and ensure all non-standard, non-recurring entries are countersigned by Director of Finance. (4%) 
  • Coordinate and facilitate all external and internal audits. (3%) 
  • Monitor and control expenses of the hotel, paying special attention to the daily reporting of the auditor and addressing issues that have material effect and/or impact guest experience. (5%) 
  • Prepare financial reports and communicate with Ownership and Four Seasons Corporate Office the financial health of the Resort. (5%) 
  • Meet with Department Heads in the resort to ensure management of their revenue and expenses are in line with the budget; to ensure forecast accuracy and financial performance of the Resort. (7%) 
  • Participate in executive team meetings (Planning Committee) as needed and active member of extended executive team (Planning Committee) PC&Co. to formulate and shape strategy of resort and business from a people, product and profit standpoint. (4%) 

What you bring

  • Education: University degree – major in accounting or finance preferred; exception must be approved by Senior Vice President, Operations Finance
  • Experience: From three to five years of experience in the related position with Four Seasons or other organization.
  • Require a working technical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, Four Seasons Internal Controls, Policies and Procedures and job knowledge of all positions in Accounting, Purchasing and Food & Beverage control. Working knowledge is generally learned on the job or through a series of professional certifications.
  • Require knowledge of and the ability to operate computer equipment and excellent Excel and computer skills. Sun, iScala and Opera Systems knowledge would be ideal and greatly valued.
  • Strategic, analytical and have solid business acumen.
  • Proven leadership skills in a Hotel/Resort environment
  • Highest level of integrity and transparency
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with cross-functional teams; negotiate for resources and influence stakeholders and to gain acceptance of and commitment to plans, ideas, initiatives, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare and deliver reports, effective presentations and to facilitate meetings

  • Apply an ethical approach to influence the outcome of situations
