Title: Principal Software Engineer, Back End

Seniority Level: Senior

Location: Seattle, WA

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (in-office 3 days per week)

Reporting to: Chief Technology Officer

Impact & Outcomes

As a Principal Software Engineer, Back End at Evertune, your contributions will directly drive the scalability, reliability, and innovation of our AI Discovery platform. Your impact will include:

• Designing and building high-performance backend systems to support real-time AI model interactions

• Optimizing MongoDB-based data storage solutions for efficiency, reliability, and scalability

• Enhancing the performance of core microservices, focusing on low-latency and high-throughput processing

• Leading backend system architecture and driving technical decision-making

• Collaborating closely with product, frontend, and AI engineering teams to rapidly ship features that align with user needs

• Championing best practices in code quality, testing, and DevOps within the team

• Contributing to system security, observability, and operational resilience

Core Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain scalable backend infrastructure for Evertune's AI products

• Work closely with Product to define features, shipping cadence, and release criteria.

• Write clean, maintainable code and implement robust testing strategies

• Integrate seamlessly with various AI APIs and services, optimizing for cost, speed, and reliability

• Troubleshoot and debug performance issues across services and environments

• Drive continuous improvement in our engineering workflows, tools, and infrastructure

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define API contracts, data models, and service interfaces

• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical design discussions

Must-Have Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience, with a strong command of modern backend languages (e.g., Python, Go, or similar)

• Proficiency with MongoDB and designing performant data schemas

• Deep experience building scalable, production-grade systems on Google Cloud Platform or similar cloud environments

• Proven track record integrating with external APIs, especially high-throughput or real-time services

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and observability tools (e.g., monitoring, logging, tracing)

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience working with AI or ML systems, especially generative AI APIs

• Familiarity with message queues and event-driven architectures

• Exposure to frontend or full-stack development in a modern JavaScript framework

• Prior experience in high-growth startups or fast-paced product environments
