Job Summary

Under supervision of the Controller, the Accounting Intern will shadow Accounting Team Members to learn various tasks and processes of the accounting department. The Accounting Intern will also be tasked with clerical work such as assisting with reconciliations, assisting with AP/AR duties, and other tasks assigned by the Controller.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Learn the primary functions of various positions within the department.
  • Assist with AP and AR work (processing invoices, applying payments, etc.).
  • Assist Accountants with month end work (reconciliations, variance research, etc.).
  • Completes all the required Company training/compliance courses assigned.
  • Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience 

  • No prior experience or training required.
  • This position does not include any supervisory responsibilities.

License & Certifications

  • No specific licenses & certifications are needed.

Skills & Abilities

This position requires the capability to understand and follow both oral and written directions. Must be able to communicate effectively with others, analyze and resolve problems, maintain effective working relationships, and interact successfully with internal and external customers. Specific skills and abilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Critical thinking.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to interpret and create spreadsheets.
  • Able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, with impending deadlines and/or established timeframes.
  • Intermediate math skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks. Specifically, for long distances or moving from one work site to another often.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with us without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations sound.
  • Hands to Fingers: Picking. Pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of occasionally and/or minor amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Environment: 

  • None: No exposure to adverse environmental conditions (typical office/administrative setting).
